This past Saturday (March 29), Blue Ridge Medical Center was proud to support the Mercier Orchards Hard Cider 5K Run/Walk! 🍩🍎🍻

With over 900 participants, it was an incredible turnout—and we were honored to be one of only two groups invited to volunteer, alongside the Fannin County Chamber of Commerce.

Set up right next to the Mercier tent, our team jumped in to help wherever needed. Evelyn Hammond (CNO) and Julie Shirah (Cardiac Rehab Director) bagged those famous Mercier donuts, while Shelly Stiles (Corporate Compliance Manager) and Susan Kiker (Marketing Director) prepped cider glasses for the finish line pour.

Blue Ridge Medical Center Nurses Help Educate Students on Safe Driving

Whitley McDaris, ER Nurse Director, and Lisa Cook, ER Nurse—both from Blue Ridge Medical Center—joined the Lutzie 43 Foundation’s Summit at Fannin County High School to speak with students about the serious consequences of distracted and impaired driving.

As part of the “A Glimpse into the Trauma Bay” breakout session, Whitley and Lisa teamed up with trauma nurses and a trauma surgeon from Erlanger to give students a firsthand look at what happens inside an ER when crash victims arrive. Their goal: to help students truly understand how one bad decision behind the wheel can change lives forever.
