Truth!

Truth!

Imbalances in your hormones are triggered by bad food. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
If you eat sugar, you’ll produce more insulin, more estrogen, and more testosterone. Any type of flour and sugar can lead to these imbalances. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Dairy and gluten are often triggers for inflammation and hormonal imbalances. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Xenobiotics or environmental chemicals like pesticides in our food can act like powerful hormone disruptors and trigger our own hormones to go out of balance.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
We know that sugar, caffeine, alcohol, stress, and lack of exercise all contribute to worse PMS and all hormonal imbalances – including menopause.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
After removing the bad stuff, you will want to replace it with good stuff. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Eat a whole, real, unprocessed, organic, mostly plant-based diet with organic or sustainably raised animal products. When you focus on this type of diet, you minimize intake of xenoestrogens, hormones, and antibiotics. Taking simple steps like choosing organic food and drinking filtered water can hugely impact hormone balance.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Getting good quality sleep every night and exercising regularly can help balance your hormones. Along with supplementing with Omega-3, vitamin D3, B vitamins, magnesium, and probiotics.

Put the ice down!

Put the ice down!

In 1978 Harvard physician Dr. Gabe Mirkin coined the term RICE (Rest. Ice. Compression. Elevation.) as the recommended treatment for sports injuries. Since this time, the medical community has religiously used this protocol for the treatment of all acute injuries AND in the recovery of intense exercise. But here's the deal, just because the pain and soreness you experience is decreased temporarily with ice does NOT mean you’re fixing the problem. In fact, you actually may be doing more harm than good.🤯
What most don't realize is that in 2013 Dr. Gabe Mirkin came out and WITHDREW his original statement writing, “Subsequent research shows that ice can actually delay recovery. Mild movement helps tissue to heal faster, and the application of cold suppresses the immune responses that start and hasten recovery."❌
To read the full blog post (8-10 min read) on why ice is a bad idea after injury and in the recovery from intense exercise (including 30 cited research articles), check out “Dont Ice, Walk It Off” on SquatUniversity.com📲
Sure, if you’re in 10 out of 10 pain, some ice can be helpful to decrease pain. But, our goal should always be to treat the WHY behind pain and not try to cover it up by addressing the symptoms.
So what would be a better choice than ice for sore joints and muscles? I’m a big fan of FIRST understanding what parts of your training may be lacking & causing the problems in the first place. Every one of the listed factors in this post can be potential weak links that when addressed could allow for more optimal tolerance to loading & allowing your body to feel less achy!

Polyethylene glycol or PEG 3350 is commonly known as Miralax comes with its own side effects:

❌tics
❌rage
❌sleep disturbance
❌neurological behaviors

❗❗The FDA has not approved long-term use of PEG 3350 in children aged younger than 17 years of age. The laxative is used off-label widely by GI and pediatricians❗❗

“PEG 3350 has byproducts such as ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol (both found in Antifreeze).”

The NIH funded a clinical study with CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia) to study if these byproducts are found in the blood of children on Miralax but funding ran out and it was never completed: https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-FD-14-088.html

If your child is struggling with constipation, it's time to find the cause and fix the problem through Functional Medicine.

❌No more bandaids🩹 Don’t settle for less❗️

Did you know children tend to have worsening behavior and neurological concerns when they are constipated due to the build up of toxins💩 ?

Did you know that what you eat directly affects how your mind works? Your gut and brain are connected and always in communication with each other.

If you're dealing with stress, moodiness and cravings, you might want to look at what's on your plate…

Here are some other ways to eat to beat stress ⬇️

1️⃣ Don't eat too late. If you eat too late, your body secretes more of the insulin hormone. Try to eat between 5-6 pm.

2️⃣ Pinpoint outside stressors. It is not just about what you eat, but it also can be about the environment you're eating in or the people you eat with.

3️⃣ Avoid toxins. You want to avoid foods sprayed with herbicides or pesticides, along with animals that have eaten foods that contain harmful toxins.

New research provides evidence of an impaired vitamin D gene signature in CD4+ T cells in patients with severe COVID-19. Mechanistically, it is shown that vitamin D alters the epigenetic landscape of CD4+ T cells, as well as inducing key transcription factors such as STAT3, BACH2 and JUN that reduce...
