Hey everyone! Happy Friday. It's been a while since I have posted so today is a great time to start.
I have been so busy with my new job, trying to lose weight and get into shape. As many of you know, I have tried a lot of different weight loss programs. Weight Watchers, Noom, Beyond Beauty, Fitness Over 40, Slim 4 Life, etc. I am embarrassed at how many programs I signed up for and never followed through or how much money I paid.
Two months ago, I was in a deep, dark place. My weight had crept back up, I hurt everywhere. My body was full of inflammation. My primary doctor had me wean off anxiety medication. I was struggling with depression, anxiety and had thoughts of su***de. Let's just say, it wasn't pretty!
Five weeks ago, I went on a work trip and listened to podcasts about the Ketogenic diet. I researched and studied and learned more about it. I had tried it before but wasn't doing it right so I gave up.
I jumped in 5 weeks ago with both feet. I have never looked back. I removed ALL grains (wheat, corn, oats, rice, etc.), legumes and sugar from my diet.
A year ago, I was tested for allergies and food sensitivities. I am environmentally allergic to everything. I take allergy drops daily and will have to for 3 years. My food sensitivities test came out negative. It is very interesting how I gave up these Standard American Diet food items and I magically got better.
I went clean. I bought new non-toxic cookware and storage containers; I bought new non-toxic water bottles. I try not to keep food in plastic storage bags now.
All this effort paid off. The miracle is my body started not to hurt. The inflammation was going away. Within 3 days, my body felt so much better. I had so much more energy, I didn't need to take a nap after lunch. My head was clear and over time, my depression went away.
I am using the Lose It app to track my Macros and I try to maintain 70% fat, 25% protein and 5% carbs. That really sounds weird and very contrary to what we have been taught about nutrition our entire lives.
I have included Intermittent Fasting as part of my eating plan and found out that I am not hungry anymore. Fasting has become easy.
I have lost 6 pounds now in 5 weeks. They say that Keto makes you drop a lot of weight fast but because I consume adult beverages, 1-2 lbs. per week is what I have experienced.
I wanted to share my story with you not to sell you on Keto but my experience has been.
I will be adding more posts on the Ketogenic Diet, how I have adapted to this in everyday life and be happy to answer any questions you may have if I can answer them. LOL.
