Questions about insulin storage and if your insulin is still good to use?

Most insulin products ( once they are punctured or stored at room temperature ) are good for at least 14 days. Whether an insulin pen or vial, once the product goes above 46 degrees F, most products should have at least 14 days left of usage!

Each product will have its own scientifically backed usage period once “opened” or reaching room temperature and should be available in your patient leaflet provided.

Don’t throw your products away! Call your pharmacist and ask before going without!

Insulin should not be used if exposed to very hot or cold weather. The manufacturers of insulin in the United States say unopened insulin is best stored in the refrigerator (2° to 8° Celcius [36° to 46° Fahrenheit]) and is good until the expiration date printed on the label.
