Doug Isch and Adam Carroll provide an update on BrickHouse Family Ministries and BrickHouse Farms Self-Serve Farm Store, which merged with Loving Shepherd Ministries this year. Do you know an adoptive or foster family? LSM now offers free counseling services to area families that are helping foster and adopted kids achieve their full, God-given potential. We look forward to addressing needs in our own backyard with LSM’s unique Trauma Healing Program and our faith-based Continuum of Care. We’ll give updates as this venture unfolds!

BrickHouse started serving vulnerable young men in Indiana back in 2006. The ministry includes our property in downtown Bluffton, as well as our 40-acre farm, which contributes to the program's long-term sustainability. Now that we've merged with Loving Shepherd Ministries, we're excited about this opportunity to bring LSM's model to those we serve, helping foster and adoptive families in our own backyard reach their God-given potential through Mentorship Training, Life Skills, and Trauma Healing. Ever since the BrickHouse Strong Murph Challenge I’ve been thinking about fitnessing (made up word), faith, and resiliency. So here’s this past Sunday’s workout and some of the thoughts that went along with it:
Marathon Mow
For time, push mow my backyard because it’s too wet for the riding mower.
Time: 2 hours and 6 minutes.

During my “Marathon Mow” I was spending some time thinking about resiliency. What is it? And can it be developed or are some people born more resilient than others?

According to Wikipedia, resiliency is the “ability to cope with crisis and to return to pre-crisis status quickly”. But is this even a good definition? Does physical resiliency contribute to emotional and mental resiliency? And what role does faith play?

Over the next few weeks I (along the teacher at BrickHouse Family Ministries, Penny Sue Cole) will be exploring these questions, and I’ll be thinking out loud about what we are finding about the subject. Hopefully along the way something will be helpful.
