She was born in Burdette, Arkansas, to Thomas and Helen Cooper in 1935. On March 6, 1954, she married Andrew “Andy” Adams, and together they shared 46 years of marriage until his passing in 2000. A devoted member of Blytheville Bible Missionary Church, Betty was known for her steadfast faith, always seated near the front pew, encouraging pastors and parishioners alike. She faithfully served her Savior for 67 years.

She lived in her Gosnell home for 63 years, blessing neighbors, friends, and family with her kindness, homemade treats, and generous spirit. She could be found daily praying for her family, friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Jay and Louise; husband, Andy; and her step-father, Leo Kelley.

The family would like to give special thanks to Christopher Stanger who faithfully drove her to and from church every service for the past year, as well as Randy Kennedy, a faithful neighbor who visited regularly, fixed any repairs, or any issues she had with her vehicle. Additionally, Sam and Sheila Maddox kept watch over her, as well as sharing their garden harvest with her. Her daughter-in-law faithfully checked on her and ran errands to ensure her needs were met. Her failing health in June resulted in entering a rehab center in Gallatin close to her daughter and soon to Hospice at her daughter's home. To know her was to love her and those who knew her witnessed her life and devotion to her Savior.

Funeral services will be held at Cobb Funeral Home on Monday, August 11, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Charles Stanger officiating. Interment will be at Dogwood Cemetery beside her husband. Gary Gene Walker, age 82, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, in Blytheville, Arkansas.

He was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota to Daryl and Marjorie Walker.

Gary was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, teacher, and mentor. He was married to Vera Walker for 37 years. Their relationship had shades of Frank and Marie Barone—full of spirited exchanges and playful jabs—but it was grounded in love, loyalty, and a lifelong partnership. They were rarely far apart and always had each other’s back. Earlier in life, Gary was married to Nancy Vickers, the mother of his sons.

A lifelong educator, Gary spent his career teaching science and left a lasting impression on generations of students. His teaching journey took him not only across the Midwest, but also to classrooms in Australia and Brazil. Known for his booming voice and firm expectations, he also had a gift for making complex subjects clear and engaging. Many former students credited him with preparing them exceptionally well for college-level courses in physics and chemistry, often finding themselves ahead of their classmates because of the strong foundation he provided.

During the summer months, Gary ran a construction crew and gave many local kids their first real job. He worked hard—really hard—and expected everyone around him to do the same. He could build just about anything and usually had a “creative” way to get it done. If that meant stacking a ladder in a tractor bucket or balancing it on a 50-gallon drum to reach the roof, so be it. It wasn’t exactly textbook, but it worked. And the stories that came out of those job sites still get passed around today.

Beyond the classroom and the job site, Gary was a steady, grounding presence in many people’s lives. He had a natural way of stepping into a father-figure role—offering guidance, setting expectations, and making a lasting impact. To this day, many still speak of the influence he had on their lives, crediting his example and direction as a turning point in their own journeys.

Gary also loved the outdoors. Hunting and fishing were lifelong passions, and he was just as comfortable in a duck blind or along a riverbank as he was in a classroom. He knew the rules of every state he hunted in—and occasionally enjoyed testing their outer limits. His outdoor adventures were the stuff of legend—and usually came with just enough mischief to make them unforgettable.

Gary is survived by his sons, Daryl Walker (Ann) of Mound City, Missouri, and Lanny Walker (Victoria) of Vermillion, South Dakota; five grandchildren—William, James, Heather, Alexa, and Michael; and sixteen great-grandchildren—Jonah, Ella, Aaron, Braxton, Aubrey, Maverick, Jayden, Mila, Xander, Willow, Laurel, Emily, Maya, Holden, and Kilian. He is also survived by his sisters: Kay Van Dover of Aberdeen, South Dakota (preceded in death by her husband, Phil); Connie Walker of Canton, South Dakota; and Janice Heppe (Monte) of Calabash, North Carolina.

An informal celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at the Ramey Center at Westminster Village in Blytheville, Arkansas. If desired, guests are welcome to bring a dish to share. A private burial will take place with family in northern South Dakota at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity that benefits children or wildlife. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cobbfuneralhome.com. Gary was also an organ donor and hoped that others would consider doing the same—believing that even in passing, we can still help someone else live a fuller life.
