Went Walleye fishing on Sunday. Very few boats on the water and there is a reason for that. Water is still Dirty. Only Managed to pull out 1 good fish.

River is stil like chocolate milk. Walleye will not be good until the water conditions change. Will keep you posted. At least 2 weeeks before conditions change. If you go fishing, go black or as dark as possible.

Sturgeon update from ODFW

"White sturgeon retention is prohibited on the John Day Dam upstream to McNary Dam, including adjacent tributaries" This was coppied off the ODFW Alerts.

This is whats in the regulation Updates:
John Day Reservoir (John Day Dam upstream to McNary Dam)

Effective 12:01 a.m., April 3 2019, retention of white sturgeon in the John Day Pool and adjacent tributaries is prohibited (see e-regulations).

Well its official. Sturgeon retention is over after today. Catch & release only.
Any 1 want to try for a few hrs this afternoon please let me know

Beautiful day on the river yesterday. The Stugeon & Walleye were nice to us.
Starting to fish more with minimal pain. Healing fast even for me.🙂

Update:
PT going very well. Starting on strengthening already. Still painful but I want full motion out of my shoulder.

Should be able to fish full time by June!

2nd week of PT for my shoulder. Its hard work & very painful but results are good so far. 3 more weeks and I will be back on the river but not at full strength. Anchoring and casting for Sturgeon will be a challenge.

Sorry but I will no longer be a Fishing guide. Cant count on having Salmon or Steelhed seasons plus going to miss half the year healing from my shoulder injury. Going to start back up next year if things improve. As i heal i will take folks out (donations only) April the earliest according to the doctor but i am a fst healer so i will heep monthly updates. thank you to all who supported me the last 2 years

Very foggy on the river this morning. Very tricky navigation even staying next to the shore line. Check out the pic of the sun breaking through at noon. Could not see the shore before.

Thank you Rolland & Son Ben for going Sturgeon fishing with me. Happy we could get some oversize and get you a work out.

Well I am very disappointed with the Steelhead being closed for the year.
No night fishing either. Big attraction for folks that have never done it!
Only real game in town is Sturgeon but it is catch & Release only

Saturday Fishing trip with Anthony was good. Fishing in a 10 to 12 hr wind the first 4 hours and caught 1 little Catfish. Wind calmed down then we started getting bites. Got Anthony a 5 footer and a couple of smaller fish

Great time on the river Thursday with my cousin Randal and nephew Kieth.

Keith got his first Sturgeon coming in at 6'. It was the heaviest 6 footer I have ever seen. Huge girth!

Caught 8 bass trying to get them both their first walleye. Done with Walleye for the year!

Good day on the river yesterday. Wind cooperated.

9 Sturgeon in a little over 4 hrs.
