Term: Differential Reinforcement (DR)

Explanation: DR boosts reinforcement for the behavior we want and reduces it for the one we want to fade. In everyday programs at ABA Centers of Florida, you may see DRA (reinforce a helpful alternative), DRI (reinforce a behavior that cannot happen at the same time), DRO (reinforce intervals without the target behavior), and DRL (reinforce fewer occurrences). 😊 Many families appreciate DR because it feels doable and encouraging: we notice wins, celebrate progress, and make positive choices worth repeating.
