America’s OCD Care Crisis: National Findings on the Failure of Effective OCD Treatment to Reach Patients
A new white paper released today by the International OCD Foundation reveals a shocking reality: 95% of Americans living with obsessive compulsive disorder do not receive the most effective treatment.
In an analysis of electronic health records for more than 10 million unique individuals, IOCDF uncovered alarming findings:
More than 75% of people living with OCD in the U.S. are not being detected by healthcare professionals.
Even among those with a diagnosis, 70% are never referred to evidence-based therapy.
Just 2% of those detected to have OCD are documented as receiving exposure and response prevention (ERP), the gold-standard treatment.
