“I can’t stop thinking about it.”
“What if something bad happens?”
“It just doesn’t feel right.”

OCD in kids can look confusing, frustrating, and heartbreaking — for them and for you.

This April, join ADAA for a live author Q&A with Marni L. Jacob, on how to help children with “tricky, sticky, picky” thoughts and behaviors. Learn how to respond in ways that reduce anxiety instead of accidentally reinforcing it — and discover what effective treatment really looks like.

Tricky, Sticky, Picky Brain™ Kickstarter Campaign!

Many of you know that I (Dr. Marni Jacob) recently published, What to Do When You Have a Tricky, Sticky, Picky Brain: Cognitive Behavioral Strategies for Kids with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. In effort to help reinforce the evidence-based anxiety and OCD coping skills that are discussed in my book, I am excited to share that I created a companion Tricky, Sticky, Picky Brain™ plush to help externalize OCD, provide a visual cue for kids to use coping strategies, and to offer comfort and encourage self-compassion for children and teens with anxiety and OCD.

I'm launching this project on Kickstarter to assess demand and interest prior to initiating production of the Tricky, Sticky, Picky Brain™. This project is not driven by profit — it’s driven by a mission to increase awareness of anxiety and OCD, and give children and teens a supportive tool to fight back against OCD. Therapists can use it with patients to support psychoeducation and role-play talking back to OCD. Even adults can use it as a reminder to practice effective coping strategies. While it is meant as a companion item to the book, it can also be used as a stand-alone plush to encourage evidence-based strategies for OCD. If there is enough interest and momentum, I will move forward! I have 30 days to garner support and backers, so please spread the word if the Tricky, Sticky, Picky Brain™ speaks to you! Thank you!

A therapy plush companion designed to help kids apply evidence-based strategies for OCD and anxiety learned through the book.
