Last year, our Meals on Wheels program delivered more than 41,000 nutritious meals to 250 homebound seniors in our community. For many of these individuals, preparing a meal is no longer possible due to age, illness, or mobility challenges. These deliveries ensure that our seniors receive the nourishment they need to stay healthy, independent, and safe in their own homes.

But Meals on Wheels is about more than food. Each delivery brings a friendly face, a warm smile, and a moment of connection. The volunteers who deliver these meals often provide reassurance, conversation, and a vital safety check. For some seniors, this may be the only person they see all day—making the visit just as important as the meal itself.

Through nourishment and compassion, Meals on Wheels fights hunger, reduces isolation, and reminds our seniors that they are seen, valued, and cared for. We are proud to support our community’s most vulnerable neighbors—one meal, and one meaningful connection, at a time.

JFS is proud to share that Georgina Rush has been named our January Employee of the Month!
Georgina is the Accounting Manager at JFS. She shared that she “loves being part of a team that makes a real difference in people’s lives. Seeing the positive impact we create together is incredibly rewarding.”
Her motivation comes from knowing she is contributing to something bigger than herself. Helping others and working alongside a trustworthy team drive her to deliver excellence in her career.
Outside of work, Georgina is deeply involved in animal rescue, helping to save and care for animals in need. She also enjoys traveling to explore new cultures and perspectives, and her love of learning and personal growth helps her strive to be the best version of herself.
We are grateful to have such a caring and hard-working member of the JFS family.

JFS is proud to work to work in partnership with Jewish Educational Loan Fund (JELF) to help local students meet their academic goals. As the cost of education continues to raise, JELF offers 0% interest loans to help cover costs associated with the educational and living expenses that other financial aid often does not cover, such as travel, rent, food, and books. Students like Leah, are saved from years of high interest bearing debt and an opporunity to attend college. "No one in my family has ever been able to afford to go away to school. I am so blessed to have this opportunity to grow, mature, and be independent for the first time in my life. Without the funds from JELF, I wouldn't have the money to cover my living expenses and fulfilling my dream of going away to college like my peers"

Today, we celebrate "I Am a Mentor" day at JFS. Our Community Mentoring Program, funded by United Way of Palm Beach County, currently has 21 mentors who have been matched with a mentee. We are proid to honor these incredible people who give their time, wisdom, and compassion to guide and inspire others. Their dedication creates ripples of hope and opportunity throughout our community. Two of these mentors shared some of their thoughts about why they became mentors.

Bob: Being a mentor is a chance to give back. I have been blessed with many advantages in my life – a stable upbringing, a good education, [and] good jobs. I feel like being a mentor is using those advantages to help a child who may not have those same opportunities. In the case of my mentee, I can provide emotional support, friendship, and a hopefully a male role model to a boy who otherwise might not have some of those benefits in his life. […] Reaching someone when they are young, vulnerable, and still learning can do so much good for society as a whole. And being a mentor is by no means a one-way street. The emotional rewards of watching a mentee grow and learn are indescribably wonderful.

Ana: Being a mentor, for me, means embracing the responsibility of becoming a steady, long-term presence in someone else’s growth.
Trust isn’t built overnight; it’s earned through consistency—by showing up with heart, intention, and genuine care. I don’t see mentorship as a hobby. It’s a commitment, one I hold with seriousness and gratitude, because the rewards it brings are as meaningful as the impact it creates.
