I am a licensed psychotherapist who has successfully aided a wide spectrum of people from preteens to seniors. The emphasis of my work is in the area of adjustment challenges, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse. I have extensive training in motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, and cognitiv

e behavioral therapy. I am passionate about working with children and adolescents dealing with bullying, identity challenges, oppositional defiance, and conduct disorders. I have expertise in working with parents on their parenting skills and co-parenting issues from intact, blended, or divorced parents. I have special interest in working with adults dealing with adjustment and phase of life changes. I have conducted assessments for adults and seniors in a psychiatric private setting and worked in Community Youth Services of Memorial Healthcare System, providing assessments, and individual, family and group counseling to adolescents and parents. I have co-facilitated psycho-educational groups for adolescents and parents with substance abuse and DJJ involvement. I received my bachelor's degree in social work at Southeastern University in Lakeland, and my master's degree in social work at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton.

Stop what you're doing and go listen to this two-part episode! Or keep doing what you're doing and listen to this two-part episode. Either way, this is a must listen! I'm still digesting the information 2 days later and may have to go back to listen because its heavy, but so so good.

April book! I started pretty late into the month, but then again there's a global pandemic going on and I haven't much felt like reading until recently. I LOVE this book so far (not quite halfway through) and I'm not surprised because it's been recommended to me time and time again by colleagues AND clients.

Curiousity vs judgement. I often encourage my clients to pretend they're a scientist who finds an alien. A scientist isn't going to judge, they're going to explore, dissect, discover. This can be done with your thoughts and really helps to create distance from our inner critic. Be curious and gentle with yourself.

Be gentle on yourself through this (but really, always). You're allowed to feel unmotivated and unproductive because this is a TRAUMA. None of us know what we're doing as we adjust to this 'new normal', so whatever you're doing...You're doing great!
