A Lesson from the Land: Taking Action in Life's Cold Moments 🌬️🔥
Hey everyone! I want to share a powerful story that really hit home for me. 🏡 It's about an Elder who took a group of young people, who were facing some tough challenges, out into the wilderness for a winter retreat. 🌨️ These youths were at a crossroads, dealing with issues like breaking the law and substance abuse. They needed a connection to nature to find their way. 🌳
When it was time to head out, most of them showed up in 'city gear'—you know, sneakers, light jackets, the works. 🏙️👟 One didn't even have thermal underwear! The Elder saw this but kept quiet. 🤐
They got to the camp and as the Elder's team got busy setting up, the youths just watched, and soon, the cold started biting. 🥶 They huddled up, hands buried deep in pockets, shivering. Still, the Elder said nothing.
Eventually, their discomfort turned to frustration, and one shouted out, "Did you bring us here to freeze?!" Others chimed in, but the Elder remained silent. 🤫
Then, he simply asked, "Are you cold?" When they said yes, he hit them with, "Well, what are you going to do about it?" That question hung in the air like a frosty breath. ❄️ They were stumped.
But after a bit, they got to work. Some gathered wood, others started a fire, and together, they warmed up by the flames they had ignited. 🔥 It was their first lesson: action is the key to warmth, both literally and metaphorically.
We all have our ups and downs, right? Jobs we're after, dreams we chase, and battles we fight. 🛠️🚀 When I feel stuck, I remember the Elder's question. It's not just a question; it's a wake-up call! 📢
You've got to be the one to make a change in your life. No one else will do it for you. But remember, you're not alone. There's support out there—family, friends, programs that help. 🤗
So, what will you do about it? Let's take that step today. 🚶♀️🚶♂️
