Teen Mental Health Isn’t Just a Trend—It’s a Crisis.
Let’s be real—what teens are going through today is heartbreaking. Over 44% of high school students say they feel persistently sad or hopeless. That’s not just a rough patch or teenage hormones... that’s a full-blown mental health crisis.
We hear it all the time at Living Water Chiropractic—teens dealing with anxiety, depression, emotional ups and downs that seem way bigger than “just a phase.” If you’re a parent wondering if what your teen is feeling is normal or something more, you’re not alone.
👉 Here’s where the nervous system comes in—and where we can help.
There’s a part of the body called the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS)—basically your teen’s emotional thermostat. It controls how they respond to stress, calm down, and feel safe in their environment.
It has two main parts:
1️⃣ Sympathetic Nervous System (Fight or Flight) – This kicks in when there’s stress or danger. Helpful in quick bursts, but if it stays on constantly, it can lead to anxiety, panic, meltdowns, and emotional overload.
2️⃣ Parasympathetic Nervous System (Rest and Regulate) – This helps your teen calm down, sleep, focus, and emotionally recharge. The vagus nerve is a major player here—and when it’s not firing well, your teen might feel constantly on edge.
Right now, so many teens have a nervous system stuck on high alert, and their “calm mode” is barely working. This imbalance is called dysautonomia, and it’s one of the most overlooked reasons behind chronic teen anxiety, depression, and burnout.
✨ The good news? You can help reset that system—naturally.
At Living Water Chiropractic, we use Neurologically-Focused Chiropractic Care to support the nervous system in teens—helping them feel calm, connected, and back to themselves again.
If you’re ready for real answers, drug-free support, and a team that truly gets it, we’d love to walk this journey with you. 💛
