When the floodwaters tore through the Texas Hill Country, they carried away more than just homes—they took pieces of our hearts.
Many we loved were swept away in that terrible moment, now resting in the arms of our Lord. The sorrow is deep, and the loss is beyond words.
But in the midst of devastation, something extraordinary happened.
People from across the country came together—each with different skills, each bringing something essential. Teams formed. Strangers became friends. And the work began. Side by side, we grieved, we served, we hoped.
I’m especially thankful to the University Transplant Team for giving Mark the week off to be part of this mission.
Working from our RV parked right on the banks of the river that destroyed so much, he provided care and support to the search & rescue teams tirelessly serving in the intense Texas heat. Even our sweet Mila, our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, brought moments of comfort and smiles when they were most needed.
We were also deeply grateful to have Dr. Gale Gregory and Victoria Trevino from Main Street Urgent Care come up to help and serve.
There is still so much pain—but there is also hope.
Hope in faith.
Hope in community.
Hope in the way people come together when everything else has fallen apart.
This is love in motion. This is the Texas Hill Country spirit.
Thank you to every heart and every hand that showed up.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
— Psalm 34:18
