The Kendall County Behavioral Health Advisory Coalition is thankful for the community leaders who joined us to discuss the critical need for behavioral health services for our aging population in Kendall County.

🌈✨ Let's break the stigma surrounding bipolar disorder! Many people have misconceptions that can be harmful and misleading. Here are a few common ones:
1. **Bipolar disorder is just mood swings** - It's a complex mental health condition that involves more than just feeling happy or sad. It includes episodes of mania, hypomania, and depression.
2. **People with bipolar disorder are unpredictable** - While the condition can cause extreme changes in mood, many individuals manage their symptoms effectively with treatment and support.
3. **It's a condition you can just “snap out” of** - Bipolar disorder is a medical condition that requires proper treatment, not simply willpower.
Let’s educate ourselves and support one another. Understanding leads to compassion, and together we can create a more inclusive community! 💙
