🚨 Important Update for PMHNP Students Seeking Preceptorships 🚨
Over the past year, I’ve received an overwhelming number of requests for preceptorship opportunities—and I’m honored by your interest. 🙏
As someone who has trained numerous PMHNP students, I’ve consistently noticed a gap between classroom learning and real-world clinical practice. Instead of just observing the problem, I decided to be part of the solution.
✨ I am proud to share that I have completed Clinical Nurse Educator training through LSU and am now a Certified Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE-CL). ✨
📍 Even more exciting—my practice is now officially affiliated with LSU School of Nursing and is ready to take students. I can also facilitate agreements with other colleges and universities.
I now offer structured, high-quality preceptorships with mentorship and training tailored to bridge the classroom-to-clinic gap.
🧠 Why is this especially important in psychiatry?
• Psychiatric care requires strong therapeutic communication skills that are best learned in practice.
• Clinical decision-making in psychiatry is nuanced—there’s often no “one-size-fits-all.”
• Many students have minimal exposure to psychotropic medications and need real-world practice in prescribing.
• Working with patients who have serious mental illness, trauma, or dual diagnoses requires confidence, boundaries, and critical thinking—skills best developed with hands-on mentorship.
📚 For years, I have offered this mentorship at no cost. However, due to the high demand and the significant time investment required to provide a meaningful, safe, and educational experience, I now charge $10 per clinical hour.
