Greenville Rescue Mission = Men only.

Shepherd’s Gate = Women and Mothers with young children.

Spartanburg Rescue Missions = Men, Women, and Mothers with children.
189 N. Forest Street, Spartanburg, SC 29301

Cherokee Co. Rescue Mission (men/women) 227 Henderson Street, Gaffney, SC 29341

The above shelters provide extra beds during extreme weather and on nights when temperatures are expected to drop below to 40 degrees or below.

Cold Weather Shelter will be open at all MH Rescue Mission locations starting at 6pm Friday, January 30 and will remain open until Monday morning, February 2, 2026.

PRE-STORM SHELTER OPENING – WELLFORD

At 3:00 PM today, Spartanburg County Emergency Management will open one pre-storm emergency shelter at Florence Moore Memorial Church, located at 709 Main Street, Wellford.

This shelter will have:

12 Special Medical Needs cots
30 General Population cots
4 kennels

Please note: this location has limited capacity and a limited ability to expand, so space will be first-come, first-served. However, it does have backup power for those looking to shelter should something happen.

While widespread power outages are not anticipated with this snow event, our goal is to ensure at least one shelter option is available before dark and ahead of the snow expected in the early morning hours on Saturday.

In addition to the Wellford shelter:

We are actively working to open one additional General Population / Special Medical Needs shelter, which will be co-located at High Point Academy.

Our Cold Weather Shelter at 701 Saxon Ave will transition to an Emergency Shelter beginning tomorrow, and will return to cold weather shelter operations once conditions improve.

Additional updates will be shared as plans are finalized. Please share this information with anyone who may need shelter assistance.
