The art of midwifery is never lost on me. I feel powerfully called to this work, to witness the truest physical power layered with vulnerability and surrender. To be invited into this space of transformation and longing and not be forever changed is impossible. The last few years have stretched me as a midwife, a mother, a wife, a friend, but I have also had the immense honor of growing and transforming myself because of this work.

So, while I’m not on social media often, I do want to take the opportunity to wish my fellow midwives a happy International Day of the Midwife! 🌼

To the ones who drop everything in a moment’s notice, the ones that stay up all night and work all day, the ones who fiercely protect the physiology of birth, who witness and support transformation with both strength and tenderness, the midwives who laugh, and cry, and carry so much wisdom… Thank you for all that you do! You are not invisible and your work matters more than words can say. Thank you for all that you do!

Happy Mother’s Day! Today we hold space for the full spectrum of motherhood. The immense joy of a first cry. The quiet strength in sleepless nights, wishing they would end, and then mourning those times when our babies needed us and relied on our touch for comfort. The ache of loss, and the fierce, unrelenting love that knows no bounds.

Whether you’re holding your baby in your arms, in your heart, or still waiting for that day, we see you and you are so loved and celebrated today!

Today, on International Day of the Midwife, we’re reflecting on the immense privilege it is to walk alongside families during some of the most transformative moments of their lives. Being a midwife is more than just a job or a profession—it’s a calling deeply rooted in compassion, trust, and advocacy.

As midwives, we are there in the messy moments, the powerful cries, the anxious waiting, and the overwhelming joy. We hold space, offer strength, witness miracles and fight to keep birth in the hands of families.

We’re proud to be part of this incredible community. To our fellow midwives around the world: thank you for your compassion, resilience, and unwavering support for families everywhere! And to the families we’ve had the honor of walking beside — thank you for letting us be part of your journey!

Hillside Midwifery is filling up for 2025! Just a reminder that we take the month of December off from due dates to allow our midwives time with their families. So, if you are planning a pregnancy and would like to hire Hillside Midwifery to support your homebirth prior to the end of November, please reach out for a consultation! This year is already off to a great start and we are so excited for all of the families we get to work with through 2025!

We have an exciting update! Many of you know that we have been in the process of finding a new space for Hillside Midwifery and we are happy to announce that WE ARE MOVING! This move is a result of our practice growing and our desire to have a more accessible space to continue to serve our community. We have shared this news with many of the families in our care, and will send out more detailed information soon. But in the meantime, join us in celebrating our new space located at 211 W. Main St. Boise, ID. 83702.

As 2024 came to a close yesterday, we spent the evening reflecting on the incredible journey this last year has been. 2024 was a year of growth, connection, and deep gratitude. We are constantly inspired by the power of the families we support, each one embracing the challenges and immense joys of bringing new life into the world.

Some of you might have noticed that we started slacking a bit in sharing newborn announcements a few months back. While that was not intentional, the social media break was important. But, we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to celebrate the babies born this fall with Hillside Midwifery so without further delay, join us in welcoming these perfect new additions:

Meet Lainey! This sweet girl has had quite a journey in her short time here and has completely stollen our hearts! After Lainey was born with the help of St. Luke’s Hospital, she spent 19 long days in the NICU where she continued to amaze everyone with her strength, hitting and bypassing milestones every day. She was able to come home to her incredible parents where they’re now settling in. We can’t say enough good things about Lainey’s mom and dad. The strength, commitment, and love they have for each other and their baby girl is unmatched. We’re so happy to know them and to watch their love grow and we’re so happy that sweet Lainey is here, healthy, and growing so well!

Meet Caleb! He was born on a bright Saturday morning, wasting no time at all in getting here! Caleb’s birth was so peaceful and calm. His dad watched in amazement as he was born en caul (still inside his amniotic sac) right in their bedroom. Caleb’s mom is incredible in her strength, but also in the grace that she brought into her birth space. After Caleb was born, his mom got into the warm awaiting birth tub and they were able to spend their golden hour soaking in the healing water. Caleb joins an older brother and a sister who are equally as cute! It’s a joy to know this family and to be able to attend Caleb’s birthday!

We’re still playing catch-up with our newborn announcements for this summer! This dreamy girl joined us a while back and was born to two of the sweetest first time parents ever! Her name is Evangeline and we couldn’t be more proud of her mom who worked SO hard to bring her into the world. Sometimes, birth is long and challenging and she met each challenge head on and was truly amazing! Evangeline Zeal was born at home in the living room and she came in at a perfect 8lbs 6oz. We’re so glad you’re here sweet girl!

We don’t even know where to start with miss Simza’s birth! We welcomed Simza on a hot summer evening in the comfort of her mom’s custom built A-frame birth suite situated on their property. So much intention went into the creation of this birth space which included yoga silks, artwork, and a beautiful bed. We were all in awe as we witnessed the intimate arrival of this sweet girl who was born en caul! Her parents will always hold a special place in our hearts. Again, this bond we create with the families in our care is so important and really sticks with us! Simza joins two older siblings and fits into her family perfectly! We’re so glad she’s here, happy birthday sweet one!

Join us in welcoming miss Kinsley Mae! We had the absolute pleasure of laboring alongside this beautiful family as they brought their first baby into the world. We spent hours preparing, educating, building a relationship, and by the time we were called to join them in labor, we all settled in and felt like family. We watched in awe as Kinsley’s mom truly breathed her baby into the world with such grace and trust. Grandmas watched with tears in their eyes and the joy was palpable! We are so thrilled that Kinsley is here and we feel so lucky to know her and her family. She joined us at a petite 6 lbs 6 oz and quickly left that weight behind! Happy birthday sweet girl!
