Remember this. You aren’t leaving them behind, they are going with you. Let me explain why this is factually correct.
Have you heard the saying, ‘they may no longer be with me, but I now carry them in my heart’? Well, finally scientists have shown this to be true when it comes to a mother who has lost her child. Research has shown that cells from a developing baby cross the placenta, allowing the babies DNA to become part of the mother’s anatomy. Whether the child is female or male the same happens, so if a woman is carrying a male she could have Y-chromosomes in her body for the rest of her life. This process is called microchimerism. (To read more about this see my books ‘Saying Goodbye’ and ‘The Baby Loss Guide’.)
It was this information that truly helped me when I encountered the loss of five babies. I was heartbroken, lost, and grief-stricken, but I knew my babies were still with me in a different form, and they will stay with me until the day I die.
So as you enter 2023 know your little one(s) will be with you.
