17 years ago today I awoke to a complete nightmare.

In the blink of an eye you were gone.

My life turned upside down and inside out, It was a complete disaster.

I carried the weight of the pain of your death on my shoulders.

I blamed myself. I believed it was my fault. I punished myself. Didn’t let anyone in.

I was alone in my despair. Broken hearted, defeated.

I lived there for many years. In my own suffering. There are still days that seem impossible to get through.

Like today.

So I went to plant flowers for you, my ritual of bringing you blessings of blooms.

As I completed my task, the rain began to pour. Once again affirming your presence with me.

I know that you are with me always in my heart but I yearn to see you grow.

I wonder what you would look like as a 17 year old human.

I wonder what would be your favorite color.

Your favorite food.

Your favorite music.

I live with the fact that I’ll never see you graduate high school, marry or have your own children.

I wonder how people can harm children and get to keep them while you were taken so abruptly from me.

I used to believe that I was cursed. Destined to live in darkness forever. Broken and blinded.

Grief is like a loop. Time does not heal grief. One moment everything can come crashing down around you and life will never be the same. Those moments are relived as if they are happing in the moment. That is because there is only NOW. It’s all happening, Now.

So don’t take it for granted. Enjoy every moment that you can. Be present for what is in your life. Tomorrow is not promised.

If you are grieving, please know that you are not alone. Don’t let life pass you by.

. . . Full Moon in Capricorn on June 21, 2024 . . .

This full moon highlights the balance between our private lives, domesticity, and need for nurturing (represented by Cancer) versus our public lives, careers, reputations, and responsibilities (represented by Capricorn).

This polarity deals with the equilibrium between unconditional and conditional love.

Cancer encourages us to value our home base and roots, while Capricorn persuades us to consider our sense of duty and accountability in professional spheres.

Cancer may be content with dependence, but Capricorn urges us to be mature and responsible.

Cancer represents the origin, and Capricorn represents the goal.

Neglecting either end of this axis will backfire.

Ideally, we should find a balance between the two energies, which is what this Full Moon invites us to do.

Specifically, it’s about balancing commitments to our careers and families.

Something has been building within us, and now the cosmic energy demands we express it.

Over the next two weeks, we’ll discover what this means for each of us.

For now, we can’t suppress our feelings – we need to let them out.

The fully illuminated Moon symbolizes illumination occurring in our own lives.

New feelings and revelations are emerging, with a sense of emotions bursting forth into our consciousness.

It’s time to express ourselves and release what’s been bottled up.

However, we should exercise care, as these fresh, unrefined expressions may not be entirely rational yet.

This lunation forms a square to Neptune, so we should watch for deception and self-deception.

We might also be reacting to disillusionment.

. . . On this day, 16 years ago I experienced a mother’s worst nightmare. . .

I woke up and my sweet 5 month old baby Shian Rain had passed away. I was laying next to her cold and lifeless body. I didn’t realize at first what was happening, I thought this must be a bad dream..

I picked her up and she was gone, there was no life left in her body. I immediately panicked. I jumped out of bed and called 911.

The compassionate operator instructed me to begin CPR.

My two other children were fast asleep in their beds, they were 2 and 6 years old. I didn’t want them to see what was happening on the floor of our humble apartment.

It felt like an eternity before the paramedics arrived. They continued to perform CPR on Shian without success.

They took her out to the ambulance and I called my dear friend who lived just a few blocks away to come and take my two other children out of the house as to avoid them seeing the scene.

The paramedics brought me out to the ambulance and confirmed the devastating news that they had officially pronounced Shian Rain deceased.

They allowed me to hold her for a while until the coroner showed up and told me that he needed to take Shian.

That’s when I completely lost my mind.

I couldn’t fathom sending her away - I was in complete shock.

My life had completely changed, been turned upside down and I was a total mess.

I was forced to allow the coroner to take my baby, not knowing when I would see her or hold her again.

Then I had the responsibility to try to explain to my other two precious children that their baby sister, their most precious gift, was gone.

This was the hardest day of my life.

For about 5 years I was not myself at all, completely devastated, depressed.

I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t take care of my other two children. I lost weight, buried myself away from the world, cried myself to sleep at night and didn’t know what to do with myself.

It wasn’t until my first spiritual teacher found me and invited me into a women’s healing circle that I began to truly heal.

. . . My son is going away to college in 16 days.. yea I’m counting the days because I want every moment to count.

18 years of being together mostly every day and in just a short amount of time he will be living 2500 miles away from me.

I’m excited, proud, grateful and terrified all at the same time.

A place I have never been, a place where he will start a new phase of life without me by his side.

These days are bittersweet.

They are priceless and so my time and energy has been spent doing all of the tasks in preparation for the big move, being present with him, planning a big surprise/grad party..

We had an amazing overnight in McCall last weekend. One for the books.

One I will never forget..

Ahhh this precious human!! Being with the ones you love and just appreciating them is an absolute gift 💝

Time may be an illusion but it sure is a powerful one. I just can’t imagine what life will be like with out this outstanding human by my side.

Each moment is precious.. especially in these times of transition. I Am immersed in the moment these days.

After all that we have been through
I am so proud to call this human my son.

The future is looking so god damn bright we are all gonna need shades! 😎

Be here now. It’s all you have.
