Gemba Boise

Gemba Boise Our program is uniquely designed for young adults transitioning into adulthood. Gemba Gap Program is a young adult transition program located in Boise, ID.

We mentor those wanting to explore their interests, and find their path. By assessing personality, values, motivators, purposes, & passions, we help structure paths for young adults, helping them transition into adulthood with new-found focus on goals and aspirations.

For many neurodivergent adults, not starting a task isn’t about laziness or avoidance. It’s more like standing in front of a door that won’t open, you can see what needs to be done, you want to do it, but the handle won’t turn.

Starting a task often requires crossing a higher internal activation threshold. Pressure and “just start” advice usually make that threshold harder to cross. What helps is lowering the barrier: redefining starting as opening the document, touching the laundry basket, or reading the first line.

Small entry points, supportive cues, and shared momentum can replace the spark when it isn’t firing on its own. Understanding this shift can completely change how we support neurodivergent young adults.

Success doesn’t follow just one path.

At Gemba Boise, we help young adults explore a range of career options, from college and continuing education to trade schools and hands-on professions. Through coaching, exposure, and real conversations about interests and strengths, clients can discover what kind of work and lifestyle truly fits them.

Our goal is to help each individual build a direction that feels meaningful and achievable. To learn more about Gemba’s approach, contact our Admissions Director, Melissa, at melissa@gembaboise.com.

“Just try harder” is advice many neurodivergent young adults hear, but it often misses the real issue.

At Gemba Boise, we’ve learned that challenges with follow-through are rarely about motivation. More often, they’re about access — the executive functioning barriers that make planning, starting, and sustaining tasks harder for autistic and ADHD individuals.

Real progress happens when we shift the question from “Why aren’t they trying?” to “What’s getting in the way, and how can we lower the barrier?”

Spring is a season of renewal, a reminder that growth doesn’t have to be rushed. Sometimes, the simplest step toward clarity and direction is stepping outside and letting a new season begin. Longer days and fresh air have a way of clearing our heads, restoring perspective, and helping us move forward with intention. The Gemba team encourages our young adults to take advantage of the outdoors in Boise, using nature as a space to reset, reflect, and move toward their goals.

The word Gemba means “the actual place,” and that’s exactly where our work happens: alongside our clients, in real life, as they discover purpose, build confidence, and take meaningful steps toward their future.

We help young adults slow down, understand their strengths, and explore what truly fits, turning uncertainty into a clear, supported path forward.

We meet individuals in their current season, not where they “should” be. By understanding each person’s needs, strengths, and goals, we provide support that feels realistic, compassionate, and empowering. Growth happens when you feel seen, supported, and understood.
