TVM staff night out + a farewell to our amazing clinical assistant, Maddie H!!

If you’ve been a client over the past year, Maddie has probably started an IV or drawn labs on you. She’s been such an important team member and we are sad to see her go - but so excited for her to move onto her next adventure!

Thank you to Wood & Root for having us! We had the best time creating our planters 🪴🪩🦕

Repost from last year but we feel it’s incredibly important to remind everyone with small babes to be mindful of the way you cover them in this heat!! 🥵☀️

All jokes aside - we wanted to send out a friendly PSA today about covering your strollers and carseats as we head into the heat of summer here in Boise.
Babies can’t regulate their own temperature until 9-12 months so they rely on their caregivers to make smart choices in clothing, coverings, and exposure to temperatures. If you are enjoying time outside remember to be mindful of your clothing choice for babe, using (or not using) covers, and baby wearing.

We know covering a baby in their car seat or stroller is a decision made with good intentions - you want to protect their delicate skin from direct sunlight - BUT using a cover can significantly increase the temperature inside their stroller/carseat depending on the material. Even with breathable materials, it can increase your babies body temperature which could lead to overheating, which increases the chance of SIDS.

It is best to keep baby uncovered and out of direct sunlight, or if in direct sunlight to use a sunshade device instead of a cloth covering. If there is no way to keep baby out of direct sunlight, a lightweight muslin blanket loosely draped over the stroller or carseat is acceptable for short periods of time until you can get into some shade.

Remember that when baby wearing your body heat transfers to baby and your temperature also helps regulate baby’s temp. If you are baby wearing (especially if you also have a blanket over them to protect from the sun) and YOU are hot… your baby is definitely TOO HOT. On the really hot days, if possible, skip baby wearing if you can’t avoid direct sunlight.

*A good rule of thumb for clothing is whatever you are comfortable in, plus a layer. If you are hot and sticky in a tank top and shorts, your babe probably only needs a onesie on.

Happy International Day of The Midwife !!!

We are so thankful for all of the incredible midwives we get to call “ours” at TVM - as well as all the other midwives in the Treasure Valley community, across the nation, and worldwide.

Thank you to midwives for the compassion, heart, love, care, thought, informed consent, long nights, hard births, butter births, joy, grief, growing, becoming, and leaving, that you all stand witness to. What an incredible honor it is.

Cheers to you - and (hopefully) a future with more midwives like you ✨

Announcing the newest member of the TVM family: Esmeralda Lyal 💗🌸

Midwife Haley had her baby last week! She welcomed sweet Esme after a very fast labor & both mama + babe are doing amazing!! We are all so excited for her to add another little girl to her crew and wish her all the baby snuggle bliss while she enjoys her maternity leave.

Haley says thank you to all of our clients and collaborators for their love and well wishes during her pregnancy and into postpartum. She can’t wait to catch up with everyone when she’s back in the office! 💕

This could be us but you playin 😉😄

Just kidding… hopefully if you follow us on here it’s because this HAS been us before!! 🥰 …. Or it’s at least been you + your beloved midwifery care team (whomever that was)!!

This is midwifery care!! This is what all birthing people deserve. Love and tenderness from their care provider… bonus points for it being provided while snuggled in their own bed at home.

Did you know (most) midwives have basic training in lactation support and also do routine newborn screens?

In the first picture, our student, Jessa, completes the metabolic screen done while Midwife Bri helps Mama get a good latch! Followed by a couple captures of the fun part - weighing sweet babe in a hammock scale. ⚖️♥️🤱🏼

Wishing a joyful, prosperous, and healthy 2025 to all of our clients, colleagues, and community members! ✨🧡🎆🪩

As the sun sets on 2024 and rises on 2025 we hope you were given time to reflect and be at peace with whatever the year brought to you; whether your year went exactly as hoped for or threw you for a loop (or three…).

Looking back on 2024: We made some major improvements to our clinic space, supported almost 200 families through pregnancy+birth+postpartum, brought back Group Care, and welcomed a few new team members.

Looking ahead into 2025: The TVM team is looking forward to another year of serving our community, growing our relationships with clients and other providers, and helping advance maternal health care in the Treasure Valley. We hope to continue to improve and expand our services, complete more upgrades to our clinic, and welcoming even more families into our TVM space.

If this is your year to welcome a new family member - reach out to us for care! We’d love to be your care team 🐣

Sweet and snuggly 💚

Friendly reminder as we head into colder temps - only thin layers of clothing go under a car seat harness!

Leave bulky coats, snow suits, sweaters, buntings, etc. OFF until you reach your intended destination. These items increase space between child and harness and, if involved in an accident, will quickly become compressed and increase the risk for injury.
