Dry air can leave your throat feeling scratchy and sore. If cooler weather keeps your throat irritated, remember to drink plenty of water daily, limit caffeine and choose menthol‑free lozenges so you don’t dry things out further.

You might also consider trying a humidifier. If throat dryness lasts more than eight weeks, it might be time to see an ENT.

Studies have shown a link between hearing loss and kidney disease. Researchers suspect that a combination of factors contribute to the connection, such as common co-morbidities, ototoxic medications and changes in blood flow.

Awareness is the first step toward better health. March is National Kidney Month, which makes it an ideal time to add a routine hearing check-up to your health checklist and a great time to talk to your doctor about other preventative health measures to take.

Many patients report noticeable relief when they wear their devices most or all of the day and use sound enrichment programs to soften the contrast of tinnitus.

If the noise feels louder in quiet rooms, try adding gentle background sound (like a fan or soft music) and follow-up with our audiology team about enabling your device’s tinnitus features.

Dreading the stuffy nose and sneezing this season? We understand that it can sometimes be tricky to differentiate between a cold or seasonal allergies.

Itching of the nose or eyes points to allergies; fever and body aches point to a cold. A dry, tickly cough often accompanies allergies, while a wet cough that thickens or yellows is more typical of a cold.
