"So you're basically a vet, right?" 🤦

Sound familiar? This Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month, we're celebrating the vet nurses who've heard this a thousand times — and showing the world what they really do. Spoiler: it's a lot. 💙

Veterinary nurses are still one of the most underrecognised professions in animal healthcare. They're not assistants. They're not "almost vets." They are qualified, registered professionals who are essential to the care and welfare of every patient that walks through the practice door.

May is Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month, and it exists for exactly this reason — to champion the RVNs and student nurses who give so much to this profession. This month, we’re sharing stories from our own MWI team members who have previously worked in practice. Real moments from practice life and everything that happens behind the scenes.

This month is a chance for all of us in the profession to champion the recognition that vet nurses have earned — not just within our practices, but in the eyes of the public too.

Our most recent UK Community Day at Haynes Motor Museum was one to remember!

Our Community Days are built for our customers to meet the MWI team members they speak to regularly, learn more about where their products come from, the opportunity to ask questions, share feedback, and connect with other veterinary professionals.

We heard from expert speakers and on the CMA and how practices can stand out, plus a panel on technology in the veterinary industry (including what to expect, what to avoid, and how to reduce fear around AI).

Add a great lunch, a buzzing tradeshow with brands like Vetsource, CoVet, MWI Pharmacy, Securos and more, a giveaway, and time to explore the museum to finish.

Last week, Julia Loew and Steve Shell represented MWI at the AHNTI-EU Meeting, one of the most highly regarded gatherings in the veterinary and regenerative medicine industries.

Julia joined a panel of thought leaders to discuss the future of regenerative medicine, exploring the clinical potential of cell and gene therapies and how they’re shaping veterinary care.
