📚 Exciting News! 🎉
After several years in the making, my very first book Conversations from the Couch: Demystifying the Therapeutic Experience is almost ready for publishing—and I’m beyond thrilled to share it with you!
The idea for Conversations from the Couch came from my many years working as a therapist where I began to notice that over the years many themes and conversations would recur over and over. I realized that even though I met with a wide variety of different types of individuals, their struggles were universal and collectively experienced. Over time I made note of these recurring conversations and the final result is this book!
Projected release date is around July 1st! I’ll of course keep you posted on its progress!

So exciting to be acknowledged by for being a harpist! I will be claiming my free pizza tonight!! Here’s a little throwback to some harp experiences from the last several years, including dressing up as an angel for a halloween concert (come on, I had to go as the ultimate cliché), and soloing with my harp teacher in a double harp concerto. That last pic is from one of the highlights of my harp “career” - playing in Josh Groban’s concert at the Idaho Botanical Gardens in 2019!

One of the best things I’ve ever done for my physical and mental health is join . It’s coach led, which means I don’t need to think about what I’m doing in the gym that day. It’s tech based, which means I know how much more I can push my body based on how my body and heart rate are doing. They have challenges and benchmark workouts that recur every few months which means I can see progress or challenge myself to set goals. They charge for no shows and late cancellations which means I show up! They have studio locations all over which means I can keep up with my workouts even when I travel. I meet the same people who go to the same classes so I make friends and build community. It’s the only fitness program I’ve ever stuck with so I’m sharing because I’m forever grateful for Orangetheory and the amazing coaches who have all pushed me to do better, work harder, and have believed in my ability to accomplish hard things I never thought I was capable of. And no, I was not paid to write this!

Carl Rogers, the founder of Humanistic Counseling believed that acceptance, being genuine and having empathy were the core principles of being a good counselor. Studies have since shown that the #1 predictor of success in therapy is not skill or education but the rapport a client builds with the therapist.

This doesn’t necessarily apply to only musicians but anyone working towards making progress in some way. This is also what progress in therapy can look like - a discussion I’ve had with many of my clients. Progress isn’t linear. It’s up and down, it’s circular, it can be slow then fast, then slow again.

Whatever goals you’re working on, keep going. You got this!
