Let us never forget their courage.
One brave soldier served in Korea, saw combat in brutal winter conditions, and was injured by shrapnelβ€”losing a finger in the line of duty.
A U.S. Marine was drafted during college, serving two years as a control tower operator, contributing to vital air operations during the war.
An Air Force veteran enlisted after the war, but his 16+ years of service were shaped by the post-war era's demands and transitions.
Another Airman served overseas, including in Korea, gaining meaningful experiences that shaped his career and lifelong friendships.
A medic answered the call during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, offering care and comfort to fellow service members in times of great need.
Two women proudly served during the Korean War eraβ€”one managing military supplies in England, and the other as a trailblazing female Air Force member who later pursued a creative and nurturing life.
An aircraft mechanic-maintained B-29 bombers during the Korean War and later took to the skies again in a successful aviation career.

Stitched with care and filled with gratitude, Quilts of Valor were presented to local Korean War veterans as a touching tribute to their service.

πŸ…πŸŒΏFresh Flavors and Good Company at the Veterans Home!πŸŒΏπŸ…

We've been cooking up something special lately! We had the pleasure of welcoming Chef Nate for a hands-on cooking demo, and he brought the flavors of Italy right to our dining room. He showed us how to make classic Bruschetta - Italian bread topped with fresh tomatoes, garlic, basil and olive oil. Simple ingredients, big flavor, and a whole lot of fun learning together. Thank you, Chef Nate, for sharing your time and talent with us!

Next we harvested fresh micro greens from our own garden and turned them into vibrant, flavorful pesto. There's something truly special about growing your own ingredients and sharing the results with friends. Big thanks to everyone who helped plant, tend and taste!

🌟 A Huge Thank You to Our Amazing Volunteers! 🌟

We had an incredible day at the Idaho State Veterans Home, and it's all thanks to our fantastic volunteers who came out to help with mulching and weeding! Your hard work and dedication made a world of difference.

Special shoutout to the Army for doing all the heavy lifting and shoveling – even in retirement, it seems the shoveling never stops! πŸ’ͺ

The Marine Corps was onsite but working covertly somewhere else. We missed you in the photo, but we know you were making things happen! πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

As for the Navy, we appreciate you taking a well-deserved nap. Rest is important too! 😴

And the Air Force... well, we missed you! Maybe next time? ✈️

All humor aside, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who showed up to make the veterans home shine. The saying "many hands make light work" was exemplified today as we had, volunteers, families, church groups Hillview United Methodist Church, CVMA 13-2, and DAR represented.

Thank you all for your service and for making the Boise Veterans Home a better place. We couldn't have done it without you!

🌿 Farm to Table Fun at Idaho State Veterans Home 🌿

Today, our residents took their culinary skills to the next level by harvesting their own herbs for the first time! 🌱 After some serious mincing action, they whipped up a cheese spread that was so good, one resident nearly licked the bowl clean! πŸ˜‹

Who knew gardening could be so delicious?

πŸš€ Veterans on the Move at the Idaho Capitol! πŸš€
We unleashed the legends from the Idaho State Veterans Home on the Idaho Capitol! The tour was a blast, packed with history, and a few tall tales.
Huge thanks to everyone who made this day possible.

Cha-Ching! It was a payout kind of evening as our veterans enjoyed Craps, Texas Hold 'Em and Black Jack. We reached new heights this year with our Human Slot Machine powered by our volunteers (at end of the movie)! Ladyluck was the featured drink and the kabobs, sliders and cheesecakes hit the jackpot. There was "no limit" to the fun we had!

Veterans from the Boise Home had an incredible time at Boise Art Glass Studio! They got an up-close look at the art of glass blowing and watched a skilled artisan shape molten glass into a stunning work of art. A huge thank you to Boise Art Glass for their warm welcome and for sharing their talents with our veterans!
πŸ’™πŸ’› It’s always a joy to explore new experiences with those who have given so much for our country.

πŸŽ‰ 208 Day with the Boise Hawks! πŸŽ‰

The Boise Hawks had a special opportunity to give back to our community for 208 Day, and they didn’t just hit home runs on the field! A group of incredible volunteers spent the day at the Idaho State Veterans Home, where they helped host a fun and friendly Bingo game for the residents. πŸ…πŸŽ±

It was a heartwarming experience to see the smiles on everyone's faces as the volunteers interacted with our local veterans and made the day a little brighter. πŸ™Œ

We love seeing our community come together, and we’re so grateful to the Boise Hawks for their commitment to serving those who have served us. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έβ€οΈ
