Meet our newest PT, Kiana! 👋🏼

Kiana grew up on San Juan Island and became interested in physical therapy during her college years, realizing how well the field aligned with her interests in anatomy, movement, and connecting with people. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Idaho (Go Vandals!) and earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Utah in May 2025.

Kiana enjoys working with a wide range of orthopedic conditions and patient goals, including helping individuals return to sports and managing chronic pain. She takes a practical, personalized approach to care and enjoys creating exercise programs that feel achievable and meaningful for each person. Kiana especially enjoys helping patients build confidence as they return to activities they love—whether that’s basketball, mountain biking, working out, or everyday tasks like cooking, gardening, and staying active. She is also certified in dry needling and incorporates it when appropriate as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.

Outside the clinic, Kiana enjoys spending time with her husband, Josh Altenhofen, and maintaining an active lifestyle. She likes working out, walking near any body of water, skiing in the winter, and paddleboarding or exploring the outdoors in the summer. She also appreciates slower days at home, whether watching a good movie, binge-watching a favorite show, or simply relaxing and recharging.

Kiana looks forward to seeing you at our Ten Mile + Overland locations. Give her a big welcome in the comments! ☺️

Help us fill our bins! 🥫

For the whole month of March, we are hosting a March to End Hunger Food Drive for the Boise Rescue Mission.

You will find drop-off bins placed in all four of our clinics, making it easy for you to bring your donations during your next visit. They will be there the entire month of March.

Help us support our local community by bringing a can (or more) to your next appointment! ☺

Nothing we love more than learning from each other 🙌🏼

A huge shoutout to our resident, Brandon Leal, PT, DPT, for leading this month’s study group with his first case study, Differential Diagnosis and Management of Possible Chronic Exertional Compartment Syndrome.

Continuous learning is at the heart of our residency program. Our residents dive deep into advanced clinical skills, mentorship, and real-world problem-solving... part of what makes our program truly one-of-a-kind.

We’re proud to be Idaho’s only Orthopaedic Residency Program and to maintain a 100% OCS exam pass rate for our graduates.

Better clinicians, better care — together.

Dry Needling Certification Part 2 ✅

Congrats to our PTs Sarah and Connor for completing their Dry Needling for Lumbopelvic & Lower Extremity Conditions this weekend!

We’re proud to offer dry needling at all four clinics, and most of our PTs are certified and highly trained in this technique. It’s a great option for reducing muscle tension, easing stubborn pain, improving mobility, and speeding up recovery.

If you’ve been curious about trying dry needling, now’s the perfect time to ask your therapist if it’s right for you. Call to make an appointment today. 📲

✨January Patient of the Month ✨

We are excited to announce that January's Patient of the Month is... Linda!

Linda came to Foothills after a cervical spine fracture requiring surgery. She was barely walking with a walker when she started with us, and is now walking independently with a rolling walker! She has made a lot of progress and is dedicated to her healing process.

Thanks for making Foothills your destination of choice, Linda! We are so proud of your progress.
