🌞 Wellness Wednesday: Senior Skin Safety 🌞
At Aspen Valley, we’re all about wellness from head to toe—and that includes protecting your beautiful skin! As we age, our skin becomes thinner, drier, and more sensitive, making it more vulnerable to sunburns, bruises, and long-term sun damage.
Here are a few simple ways to keep your skin safe and healthy all year long—especially in the summer:
👒 Cover Up:
Wide-brimmed hats, sunglasses, and lightweight long-sleeved shirts help shield skin from direct sunlight. Loose, breathable fabrics keep you cool while adding protection!
🧴 SPF is Your BFF:
Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Apply it 30 minutes before going outside, and reapply every 2 hours—even on cloudy days. Focus on the ears, face, hands, neck, and feet—spots that are often overlooked.
💧 Stay Hydrated Inside & Out:
Drink water regularly, and use gentle moisturizers daily to help lock in skin moisture. Dry skin is more prone to irritation and injury!
🚫 Avoid Peak Sun Hours:
Try to stay indoors between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when the sun is strongest. If you're outside, seek out shady spots like trees, awnings, or umbrellas.
🧼 Be Gentle with Your Skin:
Use mild soaps and lukewarm water when bathing. Pat your skin dry instead of rubbing, and apply lotion right after to trap in moisture.
👩⚕️ Bonus Tip:
Have your skin checked regularly by your doctor or dermatologist—early detection of any changes is key!
Let’s protect our skin while we enjoy the sunshine and summer fun safely. 💛
