I came in with a long history of lower back pain from an injury since high school that had/has been nagging me for years. I regularly strength train, run and mountain bike. My lower back recently had been angry with any hinging, squatting, or forward reaching movements. I came in thinking Dr. Hoskyn would prescribe me a mobility plan and I would adhere to it. because he told me to. Oh, was so wrong! Dr. Hoskyn took the first hour asking me lots of questions about my back and getting to know everything he could about it. The second half of the session, we worked on my deadlift and squat to pin point where pain was occurring and took preventative and corrective steps towards lowering that pain. Who knew that consciously activating my glutes and consciously thinking about my breathing would help reduce the pain. I walked away with very practical steps to improve my low back pain. This physical therapy clinic is the real deal!! Highly recommend, and would give more stars if I could! Thanks Dr. Hoskyn!

I came to see Ben in December with a nagging Achilles issue that had been bothering me for months. Running had become painful, frustrating, and honestly, I was starting to wonder if this was just part of getting older. I’m 48, but I know I still have a lot of good running years left in me, I just needed the right help. I had seen other physical therapists before, but the answer was always the same: rest. And while rest has its place, it wasn’t solving the problem. I wanted to keep running, not sit on the sidelines indefinitely.That’s when I found Ben. I was specifically looking for a PT who understands runners, not just someone who tells you to stop. Ben took the time to assess the root of the problem and developed a plan that kept me moving while addressing the injury.The results speak for themselves. The first six months of 2025 have been my most consistent stretch of running ever. I’ve logged more miles than I ever have in the first half of a year, stayed injury-free, and even returned to racing. Most importantly, I ran my first marathon in eight years, the Boise River Marathon in May, and finished one minute under my goal time!Thank you, Ben, for not only getting me back on the road but for teaching me techniques and strategies to keep running strong for decades to come!

When I first started working with Tyler at the end of 2020, his longest race was 50 miles. Fast forward to this June—he just completed his first 100-miler in beautiful Wyoming! 🥳

He put in the work and it showed. Afterward, he said: “My body held up well. I’m not very sore today.” All the planning and preparation paid off, and he has so much to be proud of. I know I’m incredibly proud of him. 👏🏽

I found Ben Hoskyn and Fit and Function after several attempts to address cycling-related lower back pain through the “standard” physical therapy available through my health insurance plan. The difference between my “standard” PT experience and what Ben and Fit and Function have provided is remarkable. Ben and I have spent much more time than my “normal” PT sessions really digging into the causes of my pain and my personal cycling goals. Ben’s prescribed exercises are custom tailored to me and my goals on the bike; my prior PT experience, in hindsight, appears designed for the most common denominator for all patients, whether for otherwise healthy endurance athletes or octogenarians. That Ben’s treatment would not be the standard was clear when we worked on deadlifting form (albeit with light weights) in our first treatment session. We are in the middle of my treatment regime now, but I have already felt marked improvement relative to the efficacy of prior recovery regimens. If you are a cyclist (or runner) looking for a PT experience tailored to you and your athletic goals, I highly recommend Fit and Function, particularly if the “plain vanilla” approach to recovery has not worked for you.

I hobbled into Fit & Function thinking I had a strained muscle... which turned out to be a stress fracture! Maria helped me understand my injury, guided me through next steps, and checked in with me along the way. She is dependable, it's clear that she genuinely cares about her patients, and she really knows her stuff. :) I have confidence that I'll return to running, and that confidence is because of Maria!I highly recommend Fit & Function. From the initial discovery call with Jason to every interaction with Maria, I've been so impressed and feel so lucky to have found them!

Shoutout to an awesome runner who crushed his first half marathon today—pain free! 💪🏽
No hip, knee, or ankle issues on race day! This is a huge win after months of rehab, consistent work, and (most importantly) patience.

He trusted the process, put in the effort, and showed up ready. Like he said—onto the next! 👊🏽

Ben at Fit & Function is great! I had just returned to running last fall after a long hiatus, and pretty quickly developed peroneal tendonitis. Ben helped me correct the muscular imbalances and weaknesses that had led to my pain, and convinced me to keep running through the treatment (despite what my former coaches had always told me—which was to stop and rest if any pain emerged). Within a couple of months of treatment I no longer had any pain in my tendon and had built my running volume back up to nearly my pre-hiatus levels. I would 100% recommend working with Ben!

Ben helped me get back to running pain free! I started running again after a couple year hiatus and was consistently battling knee pain. Ben asked really good questions and did a thorough exam to determine what was going on. His exercises were tailored perfectly for me, with a variety of strength, balance, and flexibility training that fit with my schedule and lifestyle. Over a few month process, we were able to progress in difficulty of exercises and get me to the point where I can now consistently run pain-free. He is very knowledgeable about PT, but also running specifically. I would recommend him to anyone looking to either get back into running or up their game!

Maria is extremely knowledgeable and personable! I had my running gait accessed and was insanely impressed by her methodology. She was able to identify specific muscle imbalances I had and gave me exercises that targeted those muscles. I’m stronger, happier, and can run further without pains thanks to Maria!!
