2018 was a painful year in doula service. This summer, a recent client of mine passed away and left behind a nursing baby and heartbroken husband. I had a client almost lose her life during an emergency cesarean. And just this weekend, a recent client lost her daughter in a car accident. My heart celebrates every birth, but my heart also breaks when I see my clients suffer. If you have room in your budget, please consider donating.

It's my 38th birthday and I'm sitting in the hospital waiting room while my doula client has a cesarean. She has been here for 3 days with pre-eclampsia, and induction techniques just weren't working. My twin sister and I were also born via cesarean. It's usually not the birth my clients want, but it sure is a great option when vaginal birth isn't safe. I hope today is still a happy birthday for the sweet little girl being born right now. 💕
