Gr8ter

Gr8ter We Are Gr8ter. We believe in mental health recovery. We empower people to overcome mental health struggles in order to live the lives they desire.

Gr8ter empowers people affected by mental and emotional struggles to overcome the shame that may be holding them back so they can reach their full potential. For so many of us, a diagnosis or struggle can bring on feelings of hopelessness or that we can’t achieve what we really want. YOU deserve to have Gr8ter joy, Gr8ter relationships, and Gr8ter success. We believe that all people can reach their full potential when they have the mindset, support and tools they need. At Gr8ter, you will find us, people just like you, who are not just striving, but thriving as we live, work, and play in spite of the labels put on us by the world. Here, you will see how you can do and be more than your highs and lows. Join us...and let’s become Gr8ter together!

Mental health conversations matter — and that includes talking openly about Bipolar Disorder.

Bipolar disorder affects millions of people and is often misunderstood. It isn’t simply “mood swings.” It’s a complex mental health condition that can involve cycles of depression and periods of elevated mood, energy, or activity.

Like many mental health conditions, it can impact relationships, work, and daily life — but recovery, stability, and support are possible.

Awareness helps reduce stigma, encourages understanding, and reminds people living with bipolar disorder that they are not alone.

Later this month we’ll be sharing more for World Bipolar Day, but today we’re starting the conversation.

Because understanding mental health is part of building a stronger, more compassionate community. 💚

Self-harm is often hidden. But there are signs.

Possible indicators:
• Wearing long sleeves in hot weather
• Unexplained cuts or bruises
• Sharp objects hidden
• Isolation or withdrawal
• Sudden mood shifts
• Expressing intense self-criticism

Approach with calm curiosity — not panic.
Instead of:
“Why would you do this?”

Try:
“I’ve noticed you seem overwhelmed lately. I care about you. Do you want to talk?”

At Gr8ter, we believe safety grows in environments where people are allowed to be honest without fear.

Resource of the Week:
Call or text 988 to reach the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline if someone is in emotional distress.

Listening can interrupt isolation. And isolation is often where self-harm grows.

🤍 A Message from Our Founder 🤍

Many of you know Kylee as the heart behind Gr8ter — the person who helped build this community around movement, connection, and purpose. Recently, Kylee made the decision to step down from her role as Co-President in order to prioritize her own mental health and healing.

The good news? This isn’t goodbye.

Kylee remains deeply connected to the mission and community she helped create. You’ll still see her on the trails, at Trail Fridays, at Top of Tamarack, and cheering on the incredible work this community continues to do.

Gr8ter is in a strong place thanks to an amazing board, leadership team, and our Interim Executive Director Becca Cahoon, who has been doing an incredible job guiding the organization forward.

Kylee recently shared a personal message about this season of healing, gratitude, and what comes next — and we invite you to read it.

👉 Read Kylee’s full message here: https://gr8ter.org/messagefromfoundermarch/

Thank you for continuing to show up for this community and the mission of mental health recovery and su***de prevention.

Self-harm is rarely about wanting to die.

It is often about wanting relief.

Common reasons include:
• Emotional overwhelm
• Feeling numb and wanting to feel something
• Self-punishment
• Trauma responses
• Difficulty expressing pain

Self-harm can temporarily reduce emotional intensity — which is why it becomes reinforcing. But it does not address the root wound.

Healing begins with safer coping tools and safe connection.

At Gr8ter, we believe movement helps regulate emotion, community reduces isolation, and purpose restores hope.

Resource of the Week:
The Self-Injury Outreach & Support provides educational resources and recovery tools for individuals and families.

You deserve tools that don’t leave scars.
