⚡Thinking About Applying To Lineman School??

The lineman school wants to make sure you are mentally and physically fit to start the program, and succeed in a career as a Lineman.

So that process begins when you've obtained a DOT Medical Card (also called form 5876) which is required to start the lineman program.

And the way you get a DOT Medical Card, is to perform a DOT Physical Examination with a certified medical examiner.

Why is this important?

You may have a health concern that could prevent you from obtaining a DOT Medical Card! (I can't name all the different health conditions and medications because this post will get flagged 🚩🚩).

🔥🔥 If you've had a DOT Physical or plan to get one you need to read this immediately.

On March 4, 2024 16,000 Examiners were removed from the National Registry due to noncompliance!

This means if your doctor was on that list, and you recently had a DOT Physical, your medical card may not be valid!

This has affected many drivers in the Treasure Valley.

➡️ If you are not sure if your doctor is properly credentialed, go to the FMCSA National Registry and click "Find A Medical Examiner", and see if your doctor is listed.

Medical Examiners not listed have to begin the process of reinstatement which will take 6 weeks or more.

What Happens During A DOT Physical?

👷Safety Managers, why do local companies like ESI, Meta, Micron and hundreds of other companies across the Treasure Valley requesting DOT Physicals on their employees, even thought they don't have a CDL or drive a vehicle over 10,000lbs? In fact Most of these employees are driving company pickup trucks!

As you can guess, it has to do with Safety.🦺

🛻 These companies want to make sure their drivers are Mentally & Physically Fit to drive their vehicles (no matter what size the vehicle is). So they send their driver to get a DOT Physical Exam.

At the end of their physical exam, the driver receives a Medical Certificate or Medical Card (form 5876) that signifies they are fit to drive, and you (the employer) get a copy of that to file away.
