Most people think aging means slowing down.

But the seniors we meet every day prove the opposite. 💙

This week is Wellderly Week (March 16–21) a time dedicated to helping older adults live life to the fullest.

And “wellderly” means more than just good health.

It’s about staying:

✔ Physically active
✔ Mentally engaged
✔ Emotionally connected
✔ Socially involved

Sometimes it’s the small things that make the biggest difference:

A walk outside.
A new hobby.
A puzzle at the kitchen table.
A conversation that brings laughter.

At Senior Helpers of Bolingbrook & Southwest Suburbs , we see every day how the right support can help seniors continue living safely and independently at home.

Let’s use this week as a reminder to check in on the older adults in our lives.

Because aging well isn’t just possible it’s powerful.

💬 What activities help the seniors in your life stay active and engaged?

Dogs aren't just man’s best friend: for many of our local heroes, they are loyal partners in service. 🐕❤️

Today, we’re pausing to recognize National K9 Veterans Day. At Senior Helpers of Bolingbrook and Southwest Suburbs, we have a deep respect for those who served, including the four-legged companions who stood by their sides.

Whether it’s providing specialized care for Veterans or simply ensuring our clients can stay home with their beloved pets, we know that "care" is about more than just tasks. It’s about honoring the history and the bonds that make life meaningful.

If you or a loved one are a Veteran in the Bolingbrook area, we’d love to help you navigate the support you’ve earned. From VA benefit assistance to personalized daily care, we’re here for you.

Fueling independence starts in the kitchen! 🥗✨

Today is Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day, and we’re taking a moment to celebrate the incredible professionals who help us understand the power of food. For our seniors, nutrition isn’t just about a meal: it’s the foundation for staying strong, energetic, and living independently at home.

Whether it’s managing a specific condition like diabetes or simply ensuring there’s a colorful, balanced plate on the table, proper nutrition makes a world of difference. Our caregivers love assisting with meal planning and preparation to make healthy eating both easy and delicious for your loved ones!

Want to learn more about how we support your loved one’s wellness journey? Our free LIFE Profile assessment provides personalized insights into care and nutritional needs to keep them thriving where they are most comfortable: at home. ❤️

Eating well does not have to be expensive. 🥕💜

A few smart choices can help seniors and caregivers enjoy nutritious meals while sticking to a budget:

• Plan simple meals ahead of time to avoid food waste
• Choose store brands, frozen fruits, and frozen vegetables
• Cook once and enjoy leftovers for another meal
• Buy in-season produce when possible
• Use beans, lentils, and eggs as affordable protein options

Healthy eating can be practical, affordable, and supportive of healthy aging.

Over the weekend I watched The Bucket List on .

The movie came out in 2007, but I had never seen it before. Watching it this weekend left me thinking about one simple message from the movie:

“Find the joy in your life.”

Simple words, but powerful.

Working in senior care, I’m reminded of this every day.

I meet older adults who have lived incredible lives raising families, building careers, and collecting decades of memories and wisdom.

And what stands out most is how meaningful the simple moments become:

A conversation.
A shared laugh.
A story from years ago.
Time with family.
The comfort of staying in the home they love.

Moments like these remind me that aging isn’t just about care it’s about preserving dignity, independence, and meaningful human connection.

Sometimes the real “bucket list” isn’t about big adventures.

Sometimes it’s simply about finding joy in the everyday moments that matter most.

So now I’m curious…

What’s one thing that brings you joy in your life?

Fiber plays a bigger role in healthy aging than many people realize. 🥦💜

From supporting digestion to helping manage heart health and blood sugar, getting enough fiber can make everyday wellness easier as we age. This month, we’re sharing simple, senior-friendly nutrition tips that actually fit into real life.

Because feeling your best starts with what’s on your plate. 🍎

Today I’m sharing how I officially became a victim of social media marketing… last weekend.

While walking through a parking lot probably scrolling LinkedIn (ironically) I completely misjudged the space around me and walked straight into a metal pole.

Result:
A small cut on my forehead and a quick visit to urgent care.

If this doesn’t prove my commitment to social media marketing…
I’m not sure what does. 😂

For the first couple of days after, I’ll admit I was a little nervous I might walk into something else.

And it actually made me think about something we see with many of the seniors we serve at Senior Helpers.

A small loss of awareness, balance, or focus can quickly turn into a fall or injury.

It reminded me how important safety, support, and a watchful eye can be especially for those who want to remain independent but need a little extra help along the way.

That’s exactly why the work we do at Senior Helpers matters so much.

Lesson of the day:

• Look up from your phone
• Don’t scroll and walk
• And never underestimate the importance of safety and support

Wishing everyone a happy and safe weekend!

Senior Helpers offices across Illinois are stronger when we work together 🤝

This evening Pauline Johnson and Grace Furio from Senior Helpers of Chicago, Kelly Ayers from Senior Helpers of Naperville and of course Senior Helpers of Bolingbrook & Southwest Suburbs came together to provide a Continuing Education (CEU) event for social workers, case managers, and nurses. It was an incredible opportunity to connect with professionals who dedicate their lives to supporting seniors and their families.

Senior Helpers operates 350+ offices worldwide, and one of the greatest strengths of our network is collaboration. When franchises operate with integrity, mutual respect, and the goal of building each other up, everyone succeeds especially the families we serve.

Across our three offices and our expansive territories, along with many other successful Senior Helpers franchises throughout Illinois, we are proud to ensure that caregiver support is always within reach.

What sets Senior Helpers apart:

• State-of-the-art Life Profile Assessment to personalized care plans
• Return Home™ program supporting a safe and smooth transition home from the hospital or rehab
• Proudly serving our Veterans with specialize programs and support 🇺🇸
• No service hour minimums
• No long-term contracts
• Only caring, passionate individuals committed to doing right by their peers, caregivers, and most importantly the families we serve

Together, we continue strengthening our professional community while delivering the compassionate care seniors deserve ❤️
