Ritter to speak at PCGS meeting about the Barrow Gang, February 5.

Tim Ritter will be the speaker at the monthly Polk County Genealogical Society meeting on Thursday, February 5. The topic of his presentation will be the infamous Bonnie & Clyde gang. The fascination with Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker has lasted nearly 100 years. From bungling criminals to cold-blooded killers, the Barrow Gang crisscrossed most of the central United States and left their mark on nearly every town unfortunate enough to be in their path. Tim Ritter’s presentation will trace the gang’s wild journey from poor kids in the Dallas slums to a lonely dirt road in Louisiana where they met their violent end.

The evening will begin with a short business meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the PCGS Research Facility on the southeast corner of the square. In case of inclement weather (snow, ice, freezing temp), the meeting will be cancelled. Please check the PCGS page or call PCGS at 417-777-2820 as a message will be left on the answering machine. Today we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His words continue to remind us that progress is built through courage, hope, and collective action—even in the face of difficulty.

As we reflect on his vision, we recognize the power of history, memory, and the stories that shape who we are and who we strive to become.
