March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

Colorectal cancer is the second deadliest cancer in the U.S., but it’s also highly preventable. This March, learn more about CRC and take charge of your colon health.

Three things you need to know:

● Early detection is key: When caught early, over 90% of colorectal cancer cases are successfully treated. Unfortunately, this cancer often shows no symptoms until later stages.

● Screening saves lives: Regular screening starting at age 45 significantly reduces your risk. Several safe and effective options are available, like colonoscopies and stool-based tests.

● Know your risk factors: Some people are at higher risk due to family history, certain medical conditions, or ethnicity. Talk to your doctor to understand your individual risk and to choose the best screening option for you.

Due to road conditions and low temperatures, our clinic will open late at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025.

If you have an appointment scheduled before 10 a.m., we will contact you to reschedule. If you have an appointment after 10 a.m. and feel the roads are unsafe to travel, please call us at 417-326-8700 to cancel or reschedule.

Our clinic will be closing at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025, due to the hazardous winter weather forecast. If you have an appointment scheduled at 12:00 p.m. or later, we will contact you to reschedule.

TRAFFIC ALERT FOR THURSDAY, JAN. 16, 2025 : Mo. 83, or W. Forest Street, will be CLOSED from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the intersection of N. Oakland Ave. for a MoDOT Southwest Missouri pipe replacement project this week.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS:
• All lanes of Route 83 CLOSED where crews are working
• Drivers will be able to access driveways and entrances on either side of the work zone, including Citizens Memorial Hospital, but will not be able to travel through the work zone
• Drivers urged to find alternate routes
• No signed detours planned
• Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zone
• Weather and/or scheduling conflicts could alter the work schedule.
