Different therapists do things differently.
And if you’ve never been to therapy before—please don’t assume it’s like what you’ve seen on TV (truly… it’s usually not represented well 😅).

If you have tried therapy and it didn’t go the way you hoped, that doesn’t mean therapy doesn’t work. Sometimes it just means the fit wasn’t right.

We genuinely believe that feeling successful in therapy often has more to do with the person you’re sitting with than the letters after their name (those matter too—but connection really matters).

We won’t be the perfect fit for everyone—and that’s okay, but we’d love the opportunity to see if we might be the right fit for you. We currently have openings for adults, couples, and teens, both in-person and virtual.

Right now, our in-person sessions are self-pay only. If using insurance is important to you, let us know—we’re happy to talk through options and see what might be possible.

Questions are always welcome as we feel it can help us learn how to better help our community.

Snowy days aren’t inconvenient, they are nervous system invitations

The quiet, slower pace and softer sounds allow us time to slow down and breathe.

Grab a book, get caught up on your favorite show, play games with the family or simply watch the snow and listen to the silence.

Let the world be quiet for a minute. Your brain and body don’t heal in hustle, they heal in pauses.

No resolutions required. No pressure. No pretending. Just humans continuing to try our best! When life, stress, health, and executive functioning get in the way, resolutions can collapse into guilt and self-criticism. Intentions allow for a friendly pivot, time to rest, quite possibly the most important thing….some compassion — especially during the hard seasons.

Christmas break doesn’t have to be the most structured time of the year— it needs to focus on connection.

Board games. Card games. Dice games with extremely creative names.
Pajamas. Snacks. Laughter. A lot of togetherness.

These are the moments kids remember — not the schedule, not the specific toys, not the number of hours you let them play their new video games….. but the moments you have together.

So if you’re together and (mostly) enjoying it, you’re doing it right.

For a handouts with ideas of fun games to play, comment “Play” and we’ll send one your way!

Christmas break doesn’t need to be the most perfectly structured time of year — it needs to focus on connection.

Board games. Card games. Dice games with extremely creative names.
Pajamas. Snacks. Laughter. A lot of togetherness.

These are the moments kids remember — not the schedule, not the toys, not the productivity…..the things you do together make the biggest impact.

If you’re together and (mostly) enjoying it, you’re doing it right!

Comment “Play” for a handout with fun and easy games to play this break! We’d love to hear what ends up being your favorite!

However you’re spending today—celebrating with people you love, enjoying some quiet, keeping things simple, or fully here for the vintage ’80s soundtrack, bikes, and our favorite brave youngsters as Stranger Things returns tonight—we hope this season has treated you kindly.

Wishing you warmth, comfort, peace, and rest as we go through this holiday season and fast approaching the end of the year (and hoping Hawkins survives one more time).

Warm holiday wishes,
The Trident Team

This video is just a little holiday humor, but the message is real.
The pressure, the deadlines, the expectations, the “did I forget someone?” spiral — it all adds up fast this time of year.

If your stress is starting to hijack your decision-making (or your nervous system), here are a few gentle ways to reset that don’t involve “just taking a deep breath”:

Temperature reset:
Wash hands with warm water, hold a warm mug, or splash cool water on your face to cue regulation.

Do something predictable:
Rewatch a favorite show, follow a familiar routine, or revisit a holiday tradition that feels grounding (not obligatory).

Lower the bar on purpose:
“Good enough” is often the most regulated choice during high-stress seasons.

If this season feels heavier than joyful, you’re not alone. Wendy shares more about navigating holiday stress — especially when it’s complicated — in her blog post here:

Left-nostril breathing helps activate your parasympathetic nervous system — your body’s natural “rest & digest” response.

Here’s how to do it:
1️⃣ Sit comfortably and gently cover your right nostril with your finger.
2️⃣ Breathe slowly and deeply through your left nostril only — in and out — for 1–2 minutes.

You may start to notice your heart rate slow, your body relax, and your thoughts settle.

Why it works:
Several studies have found that breathing through the left nostril promotes a parasympathetic (calming) shift in the nervous system and reduces arousal levels — the opposite of the “fight, flight, or freeze” response.
