Let’s be honest—talking about urinary problems isn’t exactly at the top of anyone’s list. But when those symptoms start disrupting your sleep, your daily routine, or your peace of mind, it’s time to take them seriously.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), is a very common condition in men where an enlarged prostate presses on the urinary tract. Nearly half of men by age 60 and up to 90% by age 85 will experience symptoms of BPH.

There is a new treatment option available at CMH. Aquablation® therapy, a new, minimally invasive treatment for BPH, also known as enlarged prostate. CMH is among the first hospitals in the area to offer the minimally invasive procedure that uses a robotically controlled waterjet to remove excess prostate tissue without heat.

Today is World Stroke Day, October 29

A stroke can happen to anyone, at any age. Globally, 1 in 4 adults over 25 will experience a stroke in their lifetime.

Recognizing the signs early and calling 911 immediately can save a life. Stroke is treatable if caught quickly.

Remember to BE FAST:
B – Balance: Sudden loss of balance, headache or dizziness
E – Eyes: Blurred or double vision
F – Face: One side of the face is drooping
A – Arms: Arm or leg weakness
S – Speech: Slurred or strange speech
T – Time: Time to call for an ambulance immediately

Other possible symptoms to watch for:
Sudden numbness, confusion, trouble seeing, trouble walking or a severe headache.

Know the signs. Act FAST. Save a life.

Can’t make it tomorrow? Safely dispose of medications year round at Stephens Pharmacy, 1100 S. Springfield Avenue in Bolivar. A MedSafe drug collection receptacle is available in the pharmacy lobby.

What a night to remember! The 2025 CMH Foundation Soirée: A Golden Hour Gala was an evening of generosity, community and hope. Together, we celebrated the future of health care at Citizens Memorial Hospital and raised support for the CMH Surgery Department as part of the hospital's new construction and renovation project.

A heartfelt thank-you to SGC Foodservice, our Presenting Sponsor. Their generosity and partnership helped make the evening a success, and their beautifully prepared dinner and appetizers made the night truly special.

We are also grateful to Tim and Nancy Erickson for graciously hosting the Soirée and creating a welcoming and elegant setting for this memorable event.

The evening came alive thanks to emcee Dr. Shannon Calvert, pediatrician, music by Arbour Season, entertainment by illusionist Landon Swank, auctioneer David Coutchie, the national anthem by Paige Stevens, and carriage rides by Shires for Hire.

Support from last year’s CMH Soirée is making a difference. Thanks to generous donors, we’ve implemented new wireless monitors in The Birth Place that let moms stay mobile and monitor baby and contractions even while walking or in the shower. There is more to come as our expansion progresses.
