Thank you to everyone who joined us for the CMH Heroes for Hospice Race this morning (May 2, 2026). From the 5K and 10K runners to our Fun Run participants, volunteers and sponsors, you helped make it a great day in support of hospice care in our community.

We loved seeing the creativity with this year’s wizard theme and celebrating runners of all ages and abilities. Congratulations to all of our medalists and spirit award winners.

Need help keeping track of your medication? CMH's retail pharmacies in Bolivar and Buffalo are here to help! The Medicine-On-Time service eliminates the time-consuming hassle of keeping track of medications by using color-coded calendar cards to package medications for you. The sealed pill cup is labeled with your name, contents and when to take your medicine. We’ll also synchronize your refills and prepare your next package well in advance of when you run out. No more calling in refills or keeping track of refills.

CMH was proud to be a silver sponsor for today's SBDC Health Care Outlook event hosted by the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce. Our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Staci Rogers, was one of six speakers and highlighted how CMH is transforming healthcare in our rural service area.

"Rural health transformation is not a program for CMH," she said. "It's part of the fabric of who we are. It was key almost 45 years ago when we first opened our doors, and it's key now in the care that we're delivering every day. We are grounded in purpose, focused on people and strengthened through partnerships."

Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation invites the community to participate in the annual Heroes for Hospice Race presented by SGC Foodservice on Saturday, May 2.
Registration is open for the event, featuring a 5K, 10K and a 1.5-mile Fun Run. The race starts at 8 a.m. and includes a wizard theme this year.

Proceeds from the race ensure that all terminally ill patients and their families receive physical, emotional, spiritual and bereavement care.

The Medical Surgical Unit has officially moved into the patient tower and is now located on the second floor! This is the final department move into the tower as part of this transition, and the tower is now fully up and running.

This milestone represents the completion of an exciting chapter for our hospital. Thank you to our teams who made this transition smooth and successful. We look forward to continuing to care for our patients and community in this new space.

The Intensive Care Unit is now open on the second floor of the patient tower! After we move our Medical Surgical Unit tomorrow, all patient care units in the tower will be open.

P.S. The Gift Garden is open (April 25, 2026) in the tower lobby today until 4 p.m. and will be open 11 a.m.-2 p.m. tomorrow. Stop by and check out the great selection of gifts, clothing, candy and more!

Citizens Memorial Hospital is celebrating another special delivery — our 20,000th baby has arrived.

Welcome to the world, Jovie Joann Ellie Prike, born April 22 at 10:35 a.m., weighing 7 lbs. 5 oz. and measuring 21 inches long. Proud parents Gabrielle Choate and Colton Prike of Springfield. Sarah Kallberg, D.O., with the CMH OB/GYN Clinic, delivered Jovie.

This milestone is more than a number. It represents 20,000 moments of trust, care and new beginnings shared with families since 1982.

The 20,000th baby arrival comes just days after opening our new Birth Place unit — where every detail is designed with growing families in mind. From larger, more comfortable rooms to enhanced care and security, it’s all part of ensuring your greatest adventure begins here.

A big CMH welcome to Souline May Pierce, the first baby born in the new CMH Birth Place in the patient tower!

Souline was born at 8 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2026, to Sabrina Pierce of Springfield. She weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces and was 20 inches long. Her grandparents are Christopher and Crystal Pierce, also of Springfield. Dr. Sarah Kallberg with the CMH OB/GYN Clinic delivered Souline. Sabrina previously delivered twins at CMH. She is enjoying the windows, natural light and bigger room in the new Birth Place.

A full-circle moment at CMH.

Ariana Navarro and baby Madalyn Skinner marked the transition as the last baby born in the original Birth Place and the first patients admitted to the new unit.

Pictured with them is Rea Ann Brotherton Doke, the first baby born at CMH, who now works PRN in the lab.

We are now awaiting another milestone, the 20,000th baby born at CMH and the first baby welcomed in the new Birth Place. Stay tuned…
