Happy Nurses Day to the incredible nurses of Boundary Community Hospital. 💙

Nurses are often the people patients and families remember most. They are the steady hands, the calm voices, the advocates, the educators, and the ones who show up in some of life’s hardest and most vulnerable moments.

Today, we are proud to celebrate the nurses who help us live our mission to Care for Our Community Every Day.

This is also a perfect time to recognize the impact nurses make through our DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The DAISY Award honors nurses who go above and beyond, not just through excellent clinical care, but through kindness, compassion, and the moments that stay with patients and families long after their visit.

Have you had an amazing experience with a B*H nurse?

We would love to hear your story. Nominate a nurse for the DAISY Award here:

Thank you to our B*H nurses for the skill, heart, and dedication you bring to our hospital and our community every day. Happy Nurses Day! 🌼

Last week was Medical Laboratory Professionals Week!

Our lab professionals play a vital role in patient care at Boundary Community Hospital. Much of their work happens behind the scenes, but it impacts nearly every department and every patient. From routine lab work to urgent testing that helps guide critical decisions, their accuracy, attention to detail, and dedication help our providers diagnose, treat, and care for our community.

The lab is often one of the first steps in finding answers. Their work helps turn symptoms into information, uncertainty into direction, and test results into care plans.

Please join us in thanking our B*H Lab Team for the important work they do every day. We are grateful for their skill, professionalism, and commitment to caring for our community.

During Surgical Tech Week, we are proud to recognize the skilled, steady hands behind so much of the care delivered at Boundary Community Hospital.

Our surgical technologists play a vital role in every procedure. They prepare the operating room, maintain a sterile environment, organize instruments and supplies, and help support the surgeon and care team every step of the way.

Their work helps make a wide range of services possible right here close to home, including general surgery procedures like hernia repairs, biopsies, colonoscopies, upper endoscopies, mass excisions, esophageal dilation, and hemorrhoid management, as well as orthopedic procedures like total joint replacement, knee and shoulder arthroscopies, hip fracture repair, carpal tunnel and hand surgery, and fracture care.

They also help support procedural care tied to pain management services, which is another important way B*H helps patients access care locally. Every case requires focus, precision, teamwork, and a commitment to patient safety.

While patients may not always remember every face in the room, surgical techs make a real difference in the care experience and in the safe delivery of each procedure.

We are grateful for our surgical tech team: (not pictured) Gary Hull, Erica Elsbury, (Pictured here L to R): Brooke Torgenson and Ashley Schalock.

During Occupational Therapy Month, we’re proud to recognize Alyssa Matthews, Occupational Therapist at B*H.

Alyssa helps patients of all ages build, rebuild, or strengthen the skills needed for everyday life. Occupational therapy can support a wide range of needs, from pediatric behavioral or developmental challenges, autism, and Down syndrome, to recovery after a stroke, injury, surgery, or other changes that affect daily function.

Whether a patient needs help with fine motor skills, coordination, sensory regulation, strength, or regaining independence with daily tasks, Alyssa’s role is to help them move forward with greater confidence and ability. We’re grateful to have her serving our community and providing this important care close to home.

As we recognize Infection Prevention professionals and National Public Health Week, we want to shine a light on Emily Williamson, Boundary Community Hospital’s Infection Prevention Manager.

Emily’s role is one that many people may never see firsthand, but it affects nearly every part of patient care. Infection prevention is about far more than policies on paper. It means helping protect patients, residents, visitors, and staff by reducing the risk of infection throughout our hospital and care settings. That includes monitoring trends, supporting safe practices, guiding education, helping ensure standards are followed, and staying proactive.

When care is close to home, people should feel confident that safety is a top priority. Emily’s work helps strengthen that trust.
Infection prevention supports better outcomes, protects vulnerable patients, and helps keep our healthcare environment safer for everyone who walks through our doors.

Public health is not only something that happens at the state or national level. It also happens right here in our community, through the people doing steady, important work behind the scenes each day. Emily’s role is a strong example of that. Her efforts help support the health of our hospital, our patients, and our community as a whole.

Thank you, Emily, for the care, vigilance, and expertise you bring to Boundary Community Hospital. Your work is significant, and it makes a difference every day.

Diabetes can affect so much more than blood sugar. It can impact your energy, your vision, your circulation, your heart health, and your overall well-being. The good news is that awareness and early monitoring matter.

According to Defeat Diabetes Foundation, some common warning signs can include increased thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, blurred vision, numbness or tingling, and slow-healing sores. They also highlight the importance of knowing your diabetes “ABCs” which include A1C, blood pressure, and cholesterol. Risk factors can include things like inactivity, poor diet, obesity, stress, prediabetes, gestational diabetes, insulin resistance, and PCOS.

At Boundary Community Hospital, local access to lab work plays an important role in prevention, monitoring, and ongoing care. Tests like A1C and other lab services can help patients and providers keep a closer eye on blood sugar trends and overall health. Early information can make a big difference.

If you have risk factors, symptoms, or simply need routine monitoring, staying on top of your lab work is one practical step you can take for your health.

When it comes to answers, timely imaging matters.

At Boundary Community Hospital, our Diagnostic Imaging Department offers a wide range of services close to home, helping patients and providers get the information they need without the extra travel.

Our imaging capabilities include CT, X-ray, ultrasound, MRI, PET, and mammography, all designed to support accurate diagnosis and guide the next steps in care.

Whether it is an unexpected injury, ongoing symptoms, routine screening, or specialized imaging needs, our team is here to provide high-quality care with compassion and professionalism.

Close-to-home care matters, and so does access to the technology that supports it.

When you walk through the doors at Boundary Community Hospital, one of the very first people you may meet is a Health Unit Coordinator.

You want someone who is kind, steady, welcoming, and calm under pressure, especially in a hospital setting.

Emily is one of B*H’s amazing Health Unit Coordinators, and she helps keep things moving while offering a friendly face and calm presence to those coming through our doors. In a situation where people may be feeling uncertain, worried, or overwhelmed, that kind of kindness goes a long way.

We are grateful for Emily and for all of our HUCs who help create a positive experience for our patients, families, and care teams every day.

A couple of our ECF residents had a little fun for April Fool’s Day with some temporary tattoos, and it gave us all a reason to smile.

Moments like these are such a sweet reminder that joy, laughter, and a playful spirit matter. We love seeing our residents having fun and bringing a little extra personality to the day.

Happy April Fool’s Day from ECF!
