Our next care package is for Madison, a 7 year old from Boone, Iowa. After months of testing for seizures, her family learned that she has terminal brain cancer. Her official diagnosis is Diffuse High Grade Glioma. Madison lost her mom to cancer (cholangiocarcinoma) less than 2 years ago. Madison has had her first round of oral chemotherapy and will begin her second round mid-January. Her family is hopeful that chemo will slow the progression.
Madison lives in Boone with her father and 3-year-old sister. Although she loves school, she is no longer able to attend first grade. She still finds joy in family time, eating mac n cheese and french fries with ranch dressing, in addition to doing puzzles on an iPad and watching Bluey! Her favorite snacks are string cheese, cheez-its and sliced cheese. She likes the Descendants and Bluey and likes to play with fidget toys and do puzzles. Her younger sister is 3 and likes goldfish and granola bars, animal books, ABC books and activities and counting activities. She enjoys playing with tea party sets, and kitchen/cooking toys. Their family would appreciate gift cards for Hy-Vee, Caseys, Fareway, Aldis and Texas Roadhouse.
