I am proud to be MFT! High Country MFTs showed up yesterday in support of NAMI High Country! We raised more than $400 to help support local groups and other resources! We helped raise awareness of their important work! We were together as community and supporting !
We were 15 strong, including several current Appalachian State Marriage and Family Therapy students AND a Professional School Counseling (PSC) whose mom joined, too!

Note for NCAMFT Board - I vote for bright shirts with a high contrast for what is printed on them! Not only am I much, much more likely to wear them (well... PURPLE :) for me) but the pictures are far more striking! For reference, see the current cover photo and other pictures from the 2 walks we did together in 2019 (the contrast even without super fun colors).
*However, the ones other MFTs were wearing for this walk were more visible than the older one I grabbed from my closet, THINKING I had this new one! 😁🙃😎🤡🤔🫤😜

$25 registration fee includes activities, t-shirt and snacks.

● The 4/30/26 CARE Training is provided in collaboration with NC PAL and is a really great free opportunity for anyone who works with children/youth. It also comes with 6 hours of CEUs (and lunch) so I hope people will take advantage of it!

From Trauma Awareness to Full(er) Engagement… and Transformation

Join us for Hope & Well-Being in the High Country, a Summit on Faith and Behavioral Health. This one-day gathering brings faith and behavioral health together to address mental health, substance use, trauma, and resilience. Behavioral health encompasses the emotional, psychological, and social aspects of well-being, and together we’ll explore how faith communities can offer compassionate support and practical tools for healing and wholeness.

On September 25, our community will come together for something bigger than just a meal. Save A Life Day 2025 is about honoring those we’ve lost, standing with those in recovery, and making sure every person in Watauga County has the tools to save a life.

From 5:30–7:00 pm at the Hunger & Health Coalition parking lot, we’ll share a free community dinner, connect with local recovery resources, and offer free naloxone (Narcan) with training on how to use it. There will also be spaces for reflection and creativity at our memorial and craft tables.

This evening is about hope, connection, and community. We hope you’ll join us. Together, we can save lives.

On Thursday, September 25, 2025, communities across all 50 states will take part in this national effort to prevent overdose deaths. Avery County will host three locations where you can pick up free naloxone (Narcan) and learn how to use it.

Naloxone is simple to use, completely free, and it saves lives. Together, we can make a difference and keep our community safer and stronger.

Mark your calendar, spread the word, and stop by one of the Avery County locations on September 25.
