Freedom Farm Ministries

Freedom Farm Ministries The mission of Freedom Farm Ministries is to offer restoration through the transforming power of Jesus.

In September 2006, Freedom Farm Ministries began with three men in a recently renovated double-wide. Now Freedom Farm houses up to 45 men in six locations with three unique program phases. Freedom Farm is a non-profit 501(c)(3) ministry serving men by helping them grow in a life centered in Jesus Christ. Hundreds of men have already received that new life, and many have renewed health, renewed reputations and been reunited with family. Most importantly, these men have gained a new or restored faith through repentance and belief in our savior Jesus Christ.

Take a look back at the Proclaiming Freedom Banquet last fall. We’re deeply thankful for everyone who came to the High Country to support the men and this ministry, and we look forward to a wonderful year of continued growth, restoration, and lives changed by Christ.

We're pleased to share January ministry updates and prayer requests:

❄️ Recent Weather: As the High Country faced a standstill under layers of ice, we’re incredibly grateful that our guests never lost power. Though we were snowed in for a few days, the fellowship in the houses remained strong and full of grace. Please continue to pray for soft hearts, joyful spirits, and openness to Christ’s transforming grace.

🌳 Campus Update: This month also marks progress on the campus front. After walking the property with several board members, we’ve agreed to move forward with appraisals so we can better understand the financial path ahead. Please join us in praying for clarity, unity, and alignment with God’s will as we take these next steps.

🛒 Thrift Store: If you’re feeling cooped up this winter and need a change of scenery, come by our thrift store in Vilas! Whether you’re looking to donate gently used items or just enjoy treasure hunting, we’d love to see you.

🔥 Firewood Update: We are currently sold out of seasoned firewood, but we’re still delivering unseasoned wood that will be perfect for next winter. If you’d like to get ahead and stock up early, give us a call at (828) 416-0135 to schedule a delivery.

🙏 Lastly, we ask for your continued prayers for our staff. Balancing ministry life with our roles at home is never easy, and your support and intercession mean more than we can say.

Last month we introduced the Honor & Memorial Scholarship Program at Freedom Farm Ministries to help close the financial gap for those seeking recovery.

This program allows you to give in a way that tells a story. You can create a scholarship in honor or in memory of someone you love, while helping men in Boone, North Carolina and the surrounding areas find freedom from addiction through Jesus Christ.

If you’d like to learn more about creating a scholarship or giving toward an existing one, visit https://freedomfarmministries.org/freedom-farm-ministries-scholarships/

Your generosity could be the very reason a man begins his journey toward freedom.

This instruction from the apostle Paul, written to the church in Philippi, cuts straight to the heart of recovery. Addiction trains us to put self first, to protect pride, and to react when things do not go our way. Paul points us in the opposite direction.

In recovery, learning humility is not weakness, it is freedom. When we stop striving to prove ourselves and release the need for recognition, space opens for healing.

Lowliness of mind teaches us to listen, to serve, and to accept help without resentment. Esteeming others better than ourselves breaks the cycle of comparison and ego that often fuels relapse. A surrendered heart learns to walk quietly with Christ, trusting Him to rebuild what pride once destroyed.

In Phase 3 of the Freedom Farm program, our residents step into a meaningful season of service. This is a time when program fees are waived and the work they do helps cover their cost of living while strengthening responsibility, purpose, and discipline.

Through our Property Maintenance program, these men serve both the ministry and our local community by taking on a variety of projects that improve the beauty and functionality of homes and properties. It’s honest work with real impact, building skills, confidence, and a renewed sense of dignity as they continue their recovery journey.

If you have a need around your property, please contact us at (828) 416-0135 to discuss your project and get added to our calendar.

As we reflect on this past year and all God has done, it’s a good reminder that tomorrow is the last day to make year-end donations that count toward your 2025 tax filing.

Gifts to Freedom Farm Ministries help men break free from addiction through the love of Jesus, support our Christ-centered recovery programs, and make a lasting impact in our community.

To learn more about why giving before midnight on Dec. 31 matters — both for tax benefits and for transforming lives — check out our blog article.

Thank you for support this year. ❤️

Merry Christmas from all of us at Freedom Farm Ministries.

This season, we’re reminded that our hope is found in the gift of Jesus Christ—the One who came to bring light, peace, and redemption to a broken world.

Praying your Christmas is filled with the peace of Christ and the joy that comes from knowing Him.

Winter officially begins today—but here in Boone, it’s felt like winter for quite a while now.

The cold mornings, quiet snowfall, and bare trees are a steady reminder of God’s design and faithfulness in every season. Even in the stillness, there’s beauty. Even in the cold, there’s purpose.

“As long as the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” — Genesis 8:22 (KJV)

Praying this season brings rest, reflection, and a deeper awareness of His presence.

Dwayne is a retired 911 operator and paramedic from Denton, NC. After years of serving others, ongoing health issues led him down a difficult road—from prescribed pain medication to alcohol.

He came to Freedom Farm Ministries once before, but his heart wasn’t fully surrendered to Christ. After a relapse, Dwayne returned—and this time, the change was real.

Today, Dwayne lives in the Boone area, actively involved in his church and walking alongside younger men in the program, helping them pursue a full and faithful life in Jesus Christ.
