We are so grateful for excellent community partners, like the Salem Moose Lodge #2573 and Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW, who help make our work possible!

The members of Salem Moose Family Center 2573 donated $2000 to Healing Strides. An organization that help vets with PTSD pair up with horses to deal with their situation. Serving our community.

Healing Strides will be CLOSED today, December 9th, due to icy conditions on our property.

Please call (540) 334-5825 or email schedule@healingstridesofva.org with any questions! Our amazing staff is out at the barn today feeding the horses and clearing snow.

Volunteers, if you’ve got all-wheel or 4-wheel drive and the hankering for physical labor, the team would certainly appreciate the extra help with chores today! Just shoot Anna a text or call so she knows you’re coming.

We will be CLOSED today due to inclement weather!

We might be layering up, but our horses are well-adapted for days like this! Their hair grows longer and thicker this time of year and they can control the angle of the hair to help trap heat around the surface of their skin and wick away moisture. We blanket those that need a little extra insulation due to age, arthritis, or other reasons, but the real heat comes from hay which heats from the inside out as they digest what they eat!
