Join us on Friday, May 22nd for the Buddy Poppy Day Celebration in Historic Downtown Booneville at The Triangle as we come together to honor and remember the brave men and women who have served our nation with courage, sacrifice, and dedication. The City of Booneville officially approved the proclamation of May 22nd to commemorate and celebrate Buddy Poppy Day that was presented by the VFW Post Commander Terry Tolar. Tolar is a prominent VFW leader in Mississippi, serving as the Post Commander and Service Officer for the George Robert Mitchell VFW Post 4877 in Booneville. As of 2025–2026, he is actively involved in state-level leadership, serving as the VFW Department of Mississippi State Legislative Chairman and training Junior Vice Commanders.

This special community gathering will feature:
Live music
A commemorative ceremony presented by the George Robert Mitchell VFW Post 4877
and lunch will be served at noon.

Buddy Poppy Day is a time to reflect on the service and sacrifice of our veterans, to show gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy, and to stand united in support of those who answered the call to serve.

We warmly invite all veterans, families, friends, and community members to attend this meaningful celebration of patriotism, remembrance, and fellowship. Your presence helps ensure that the legacy and sacrifices of our veterans are never forgotten.
