We want to give a huge thank you to Nicole from Monarch 61 for coming to Horizon and spending time with our staff today.

She shared valuable insight on burnout, compassion fatigue, and healthy ways to manage the emotional weight that can come with working in this field. Caring for others is at the heart of what we do, and learning how to protect our own mental and emotional well-being is just as important.

We are grateful for the tools, encouragement, and perspective she brought to our team as we continue striving to serve others well — both inside and outside of work. Thank you again, Nicole, for investing in our staff and our mission!

Last week in Equine Therapy at Horizon Renewal Center, our group focused on expanding our capacity by learning to manage emotions in healthy and productive ways.

Working with horses gives clients a unique opportunity to slow down, stay present, and become more aware of how emotions affect communication, trust, and connection. Horses respond honestly to energy and behavior, which creates powerful moments of self-awareness and growth.

We’re grateful for the progress being made each week and proud of the willingness our clients continue to show in the recovery process. Here are a few moments from last week’s group. 🐴💙

Cannabis is often viewed as “harmless.” But for some individuals, use can quietly turn into dependence — and begin affecting health, relationships, and daily life.

At Horizon Renewal Center, we believe education is powerful.

🚩 Signs of Cannabis Use Disorder May Include:

• Wanting to stop but being unable to
• Spending a lot of time using or recovering from use
• Cravings
• Continued use despite problems at home, school, or work
• Relationship or social conflicts caused by use
• Giving up important activities
• Using in high-risk situations (like driving)

If any of these feel familiar, it may be time to pause and take an honest look.

Healing is on the Horizon.

Preventing drugs from reaching our streets is a vital part of community safety. Just as important is ensuring that those impacted by substance use disorder have access to care, accountability, and a path toward recovery.

When prevention, enforcement, and treatment work together, communities become safer — and hope becomes possible.

We’re grateful for the recent joint efforts led by the Barling Police Department and the 12th/21st Judicial Drug Task Force, including the work of K-9 Maya and Officer Thueson, to remove a large quantity of dangerous substances from our area.

The Barling Police Department is proud to recognize the outstanding work of K-9 Maya and Officer Thueson, who recently assisted the 12th/21st Judicial Drug Task Force during a significant narcotics investigation.

Their efforts contributed to the seizure of approximately 12.8 pounds of suspected methamphetamine, five fi****ms, and $6,754 in U.S. currency.

Several arrests were made as a result of this joint operation.

We appreciate all officers and agencies involved for their dedication and professionalism in keeping our community safe.

🚨 A Major Moment in the Fight Against Addiction & Drug-Related Deaths 🚨

After nearly 10 years, authorities have captured Ryan Wedding, a former Olympic snowboarder from Canada who investigators say led one of the largest modern-day narcotics trafficking operations in North America and was on the FBI’s Top 10 Most Wanted list.

According to investigators, this organization was responsible for the distribution of staggering amounts of deadly drugs.

These substances have devastated communities, fueled addiction, and contributed to the loss of far too many innocent lives—especially our youth.

Today’s news is a powerful reminder that justice matters and that every disruption to the flow of these drugs can mean lives saved. While the damage caused can never be undone, this capture represents a meaningful victory in the ongoing fight against addiction, overdose, and drug-related violence.

At Horizon Renewal Center, we are deeply grateful to the local, national, and international agencies who worked tirelessly to bring this case to justice. Their efforts help make our communities safer and strengthen the hope that recovery and healing are always possible.

💛 Hope is stronger than addiction. Help is always within reach.
If you or someone you love is struggling, we are here—every step of the way. 479-849-3270
