We recently experienced the effects of a fire at our funeral home. We were fortunate the damage wasn't worse, and we're grateful we've been able to serve families during this challenging chapter.

It has been three weeks since the fire turned our lives upside down. Our beautiful home was heavily damaged by the water needed to save the structure. Power was cut immediately and we have been running on generators since, trying to stay out of the way of the ServPro team working inside.

Through it all, we have still been able to serve our families. It's what we do, as a trusted partner in the community. And speaking of community, we are so grateful to all of you -- the calls, the notes, the offers to help. We are blessed to be part of this amazing community.

We'll be sharing more photos and updates as things move along. For now, we're doing everything we can to take care of our families the way they're accustomed.

Tough day yesterday.

However, our entire team is grateful for the first responders and all the positive thoughts coming our way. And, yes, we're optimistic our beautiful funeral home can be salvaged and back in service soon.

As always, we are proud to be a part of this community.

The fire caused “extensive damage” to the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home in Boonton, which is owned by former NJ Gov. Dick Codey.
