Thursday was an amazing celebration honoring this year’s Project SEARCH interns!
Project SEARCH is a one-year, intensive transition-to-work program located onsite at Deaconess Gateway and The Women’s Hospital. The program provides individuals with disabilities the opportunity to gain employability skills and real-world work experience that prepares them for competitive community employment.
We are incredibly proud of our interns and the growth they have shown this year in developing workplace skills, professionalism, independence, and self-confidence. Since 2009, the success of this program has been made possible through the strong collaborative partnerships between Deaconess Health System, the Warrick County School Corporation, the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, and SIRS.
Project SEARCH is an integral part of the SIRS mission and vision: building relationships that support individuals with disabilities on their journey toward independence in communities that provide equal opportunities for everyone to live their best lives.

We are proud to celebrate our six incredible 2026 Project SEARCH graduates at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
Project SEARCH is a 10-month internship program that helps recent high school graduates with disabilities gain real-world job experience and prepare for the workforce. Throughout the year, interns worked alongside our teams in environmental services, cafeteria services, material management, nursing units and the gift shop — building confidence, independence and lifelong skills.
