COVID 19 and YOUR Eye Care

As we are all aware the COVID 19 pandemic has changed how we live and work. In order to safe guard your health when you come to my offices for eye care, I have made certain changes in how we operate.

1. If you have a cold, or flu, not feeling well, please reschedule your visit until you are feeling better. A staff member will be calling one day prior to your visit to confirm your appointment and they will inquire about your health, please assist them by allowing them to discus with you any health issues you may be having.

2. If you are a high risk patient, or just want to have less people in the office during your visit, we are setting aside the first visit in the morning and afternoon for these patients

3. Please wear a mask. I have ordered masks but they have not arrived yet and they will be available outside the office for your use.

4. When you get to the door, you will find hand sanitizer, even if you are wearing gloves, please sanitizer your hands before entering. The problem with gloves is that they can be contaminated, so anything you touch with that glove could be contaminated. Keep us all safe, sanitize please.

5. Only the patient and one care giver will be allowed to come in the office. All others should wait outside in your car.

6. If you want curbside assistance, I have installed a door bell, please ring the door bell and a staff member will come to the door to assist you.

7. Once in the office, please observe social distancing at all times as much as you can.

8. All members of the staff will wear a mask when they are working with you. Please be patient with me, because of my allergies, I find it hard to breathe with the mask on.

9. Please bring your own pen to fill in and sign documents or allowed the staff to sign documents on your behalf. I will be exploring ways to email you the necessary document which can be completed on line or printed and brought in with you.

10. Frame selection for new eye wear and repairs to your glasses. If all the above has taken place, then our frames should not be contaminated. However, your personal eye wear may be contaminated, so prior to repairs or adjusting, they will be placed in an ultrasonic cleaner for about 2 minutes.

11. With contact lens dispensing or other contact lens services, we will not be touching your actual contact lenses. If you want to have your boxes of contact lenses sanitized, just mention it to a staff member.

12. There may be changes to this list, as we move forward with our virus containment program. Be a patient patient!
This will be a long term program until a covid 19 vaccine is readily available and is found to safe and effective.

13. At any point, you have concerns and suggestion, please feel free to contact me. We are here to provide for your eye care needs and want it to be a safe and comfortable experience for you.

Festival of Lights 2018, tied for First Place with the Flagship Motel. Their viking ship is fantastic. Never thought I would win. So cool and able to assist the Food Pantry with a nice donation! My Christmas is very Merry so far and I hope yours will be too.

A weird week- Monday - polypoidal choriodal vasculopathy(never heard of that one)
Tuesday new bagger for the mower but no instructions, 4 hours later, found the instructions when almost done,
9:00PM conference call with ARBO National Board Exam Review Committee(I am so in over my head,
Wednesday- Neuromyelitis Optica (sort of a version of MS)
Also had to call the Wiscasset police because a patient is harassing my ladies. It seems he is upset that the free pair of glasses which he had already broken was billed to Medicare. We billed Medicare for the exam. Glasses were out of my pocket, everyone knows the gentleman well.
Thursday, wrote 3 pages of comments on the MOA comments to the draft of repeal and replace of the Maine Optometric Law. Got the mower to work after I failed in my previous installation of the bagger to put an essential part in.
Friday- no mayhem so far but need to pack for our bike trip to Prince Edward Island next week.
