*For those who don’t know, our miracle warrior Lilliana is a very sweet 3 and 1/2 year old. She is competing for the title of toddler of the year.
BUT she is so much more than that…
Lilli is our world, our everything…
(as any family will yell you their children are, of course)
But Lilli is NOT your “typical 3 year old toddler”, she is “different” (just like so many oncology children are)
At 6 months old Lilliana was diagnosed with Choroid Plexus Carcinoma grade 4, a rare and very aggressive brain cancer.
Within a week of her diagnosis, she underwent a 14 plus hours surgery that nearly took her life…
We were told by her Neurosurgeon
Dr Kennedy that there was nothing else they could do… they were just “closing her out”… to prepare for the worse… that we could go see her “to say our goodbyes”………
What followed was a LOT OF PRAYERS by not just us/ a desperate family, but by an army that had FAITH & BELIEVED GOD WAS watching over our girl, and she was going to be ok (we continue with the same belief)!!!!
On September 21st 2022, time froze & nothing else mattered…
-the only thing that really mattered, was that the time that we were told we didn’t have, was being given back to us, one second at a time… God was granting Lilli/ us a miracle 🙏🏼…
the NICU at CHOP- Children Hospital of Philadelphia became our “home” … minutes turned into hours, that turned into days, weeks, months… and that was the best thing we could ask for - TIME…
as Lilli became stronger, came chemo, therapies, blood transfusion, MRIs… Ronald McDonald in Philly, to be out-patient but be right there near CHOP for daily treatments…
soooooo much has happened…
I could write a book- some of you think “this is already a book”, some read the first sentence, the last and nothing in between, and that’s ok… not everyone will understand what this post is really about… for those that do, THANK YOU!!!
Our miracle girl fought very very hard to survive! Now she/we live day by day feeling blessed by the miracle of life. By the second chance she/we were given.
Lilli has now- no evidence of disease 🙏🏼 she goes for full body and spine MRIs & ultrasounds every 3 months.
And of course She has a lot of daily struggles, the aftermath of brain cancer is not easy, she has hydrocephalus… she has multiple seizures a day that leave her without reaction & make her super mellow… we understand her frustration…
she still does not eat solid food…
she is non-verbal & gets very mad… it’s very hard not knowing how to communicate. But we are learning together… Lilli has now learned to hold our hand and literally walk us to the door to take her to her swing ☺️ it’s wonderful & we feel blessed…
So here we are almost 3 years post surgery. We entered Lilliana in this competition to tell her story, to tell everyone MIRACLES HAPPEN don’t lose faith & hope…
Lilli is here with us, we count our blessings daily as she walks, smiles on her swing, watches her 4 favorite Disney movies (yeap only 4 ☺️) and laughs at what she thinks it’s funny (that’s another story 😅)
EVERY SINGLE DAY IS A MIRACLE!
So yeah we are beyond proud of our toddler, we would love for her to stay in the competition, and continue telling everyone her story 💛
