A huge shoutout to the Boscobel MS & HS Student Council! 🩷 These incredible students raised $275 to support Gundersen Medical Foundations Steppin’ Out in Pink campaign!

The Boscobel MS and HS student council members have done it again!

With your help, they raised an incredible $275 to support Gundersen Medical Foundation’ Steppin’ Out in Pink Campaign. 🩷

Students sold pink ribbons between October 13 and October 24 before school, and at the home football game on October 10th against Iowa Grant where fans were encouraged to wear pink. Additionally, a free will donation was collected.

Outstanding work, Bulldogs! 👏

From now through the end of December, we’re collecting non-perishable food and essential household items to support the Boscobel, Fennimore, and Muscoda food pantries. These local pantries provide crucial support to families throughout the winter months, when many households face extra challenges and higher needs.

If you’re able to give, we’re accepting items like:
🥫 Canned chicken/tuna, pork & beans, veggies
🍝 Pasta, cereal
🥜 Peanut butter & healthy snacks
🧴 Shampoo/conditioner, deodorant
💗 Feminine hygiene products
…and other pantry staples that help keep shelves stocked.

We are so proud to highlight Hilary Hying, one of our talented CNAs here at Emplify Health by Gundersen, who is hosting a Cancer Awareness Basketball Game as part of her senior project at Highland Community Schools.

At Emplify Health, we’re lucky to employ a handful of incredible high school students each year—giving them hands-on experience, mentorship and a strong start in healthcare-related careers. Hilary is a shining example of the passion and leadership these students bring to our team!

She organized this event to raise funds for the Iowa County Cancer Coalition and Grant County Cancer Coalition—organizations that support local patients and families during some of their most challenging moments.

❤️🏅 Our team had a blast at this year’s Hearts of Gold Games in Baraboo!

After a few-year hiatus following the pandemic the games were back and better than ever! This friendly competition brought together over 160 participants from hospitals across the state—and we were so proud to have three of our cardiac rehab patients representing Emplify Health by Gundersen Boscobel, one even brought home a first-place medal! 🥇👏

Our Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab Team Ashley, Janice and Robert helped run the dart ball event, while Lydia from our Marketing Dept. was behind the camera capturing all the fun moments. Huge thanks to Upland Hills Health for hosting such an uplifting event that celebrates health, movement and community! 💪

Did you know physical exercise isn’t just good for your body — it’s also one of the best tools for protecting your brain health? 💪

Studies show that people who exercise regularly may be up to 20% less likely to develop dementia later in life compared to those who don’t. Staying active, especially in your 40s to 60s, is one of the most effective ways to lower your risk.

For the greatest benefits, aim for:
🚶‍♀️ 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous aerobic activity each week (think brisk walking, swimming or biking)
🏋️ Strength training twice a week using weights or resistance bands
🧘‍♀️ Balance exercises like yoga, tai chi or dance

If you’re new to exercise, start small! Even 10-minute sessions make a difference. Build up slowly, stay consistent and find activities you enjoy. It’s never too late to start — even older adults can experience cognitive benefits and reduced dementia risk through regular movement.

Fact: Diabetes affects more than 90% of adults in Wisconsin.
Action: Since 2016, improving diabetes control has been a system-wide priority.

Locally our primary care team—including MA rooming staff, clinic nurses, schedulers and providers—have been working hard to track, influence and support patients to help best manage their diabetes and improve their diabetes optimal control. Diabetes optimal control means lowering the risk of stroke, heart attack, kidney disease, blindness and amputation—helping our patients live longer, healthier lives.

📣 At last, we did! The life-changing work of our Boscobel, Fennimore and Muscoda clinic teams was celebrated last week when the Diabetes Improvement Team made a stop in Boscobel to recognize the team's commitment and positive progress on this critical metric.

A huge congratulations to all three clinic teams for this well-deserved recognition!
